"Product Development textbook" - By medad
I appreciate that it is a text that covers the design process for product design and development. Wish it covered a little more in depth in some areas but it is overall pretty good.

"Renting is the BEST way to go!" - By Samuel Leavell
If you are a college student and want to rent the book. This is the best way to go! Saved money and the book was like brand new! Got it around noon on delivery date with 2 day shipping. Best way to go if you are taking an engineering with CAD class. RENT!! The book itself is repetitive though and I don't like to read it. Pretty basic and logical stuff. If your professor requires just rent it I'm telling you! 5 stars for amazon's service but 3 for book so avg is 5 stars!

"One of the best coffee books" - By Mario
This is a great book about coffee, I highly recommend if you like coffee or if you want to understand it a little bit more

"The standard in engineering design. Pair this up with ..." - By James M. (Noman, OK USA)
The standard in engineering design. Pair this up with a mechanics of materials textbook; it assumes that you know far more of the inherent "backstory" details while it gives a short overview before jumping into the content.

"Good background information for general 3D modelers" - By M. Fink (Monterey, CA)
While I'm interested in learning drafting techniques, which this book is designed to show you, my main interest is in 3D graphics using tools like Blender or 3DS Max. This book gives you hand-drawn lessons that can be translated to 3D modeling. In fact, chapter three contains nearly 80 "homework" drawings that make for great 3D modeling practice. (I've posted an example image, click the book cover to see.)

I'm not an engineer or a student, so I can't speak to it being useful in class or out in the field--for my use, though, it was a worthwhile read. The downgraded star is for the cost, the same information sold to a general audience instead of an academic audience would have likely been half as much; however it does get four stars for it's thoroughness, clarity, and abundance of examples to practice.

    Bottom line: ... full review

"Informative book for class" - By jeh437
If you are taking an engineering design class or working on an engineering design project then this book is helpful and informative. There are a lot of relevant case studies and design processes outlined that can be useful as you consider the important components of your design. So far my design group has used some of the procedures in the book to help clarify primary design goals and specifications we need to consider as we begin to plan our design. If you are just looking for a fun and interesting read about engineering design, then this probably is not the right book for you though.

"A Great Process Design Reference" - By Bradley Yaniga
It can be helpful to know the background of the person leaving the review: I obtained both a Bachelor's and Master's degree from the University of Toledo, and for the last three years, I have worked both as a process and process control engineer in industry (2007-2010). Before I purchased a process control book, I did much research and I know now that I made the right decision. Whether you are student who is trying to learn process design for the first time or if you are already in your career (academia or industry), this is a book that compiles much information in one place. The chemical engineering student, as well as the process engineer in industry, would benefit from this wealth of information pertaining to the design of unit operations equipment. Now I use this as reference material for potential, future capital projects at work.

"The perfect book. The perfect way to teach a subject" - By V. Kelly (San Jose)
The perfect book. The perfect way to teach a subject.
First the book tells you what they are going to teach you, then you practice the various exercises and after you are finished with the " hands-on " experience then you review what you were taught.

"Pretty Good Textbook" - By BillG
Well, this text is pretty much the gold-standard for chemical reaction engineering studies. There are still a good number of typos considering the number of revisions it has gone through. Fogler does get a little corny at times with some of the jokes he works into the problems after each chapter, but i can't think of any other texts that present the core material as well as this one does.

"Great book! Buy it!" - By Kevin Riggs
Outstanding book on this topic. Recent publication (as of this writing). Great background on advanced topics from leading public minds.

I highly recommend this as a basis for a practical understanding if you missed these topics in school. I cannot imagine a better treatment of cryptography engineering.

Includes chapters that delve into the details of the foundational mathematical framework for current cryptography.

"The book spells everything out pretty well if you are doing it on your own" - By J. Casper (Everywhere)
Taking the class with Soldworks 2015-2016. All the information is current enough. The book spells everything out pretty well if you are doing it on your own, with the only exception is the order in which tools and topics are brought up is kind of out of order. If you get stuck look multiple chapters ahead to find the answer.

Probably the best book for the design of typical wood buildings.

"Explains concepts pretty clearly" - By Doctor G
If you are using this book for a class that the prof. assigns homework problems from, be forewarned that some of them were changed between the 3rd and 4th editions, and that the international edition is different from the US version. Stupid publishers. As other reviews have mentioned, there are a few typos &etc. thrown around too, just for fun. As far as math goes, for some of the problems you'd better have passed differential equations.

But the author has a sense of humor and explains the concepts well. The book is useful and practical. The summaries at the end of the chapters are great, and the progression of material is fairly logical.

"Drafting student 101" - By SanInUtah
According to my husband this is the quintessential, only, bible for digital drafting and design students. He relies on it constantly.
