"Beautiful Dirk Bogarde Collection !" - By Amazon Customer (Lincoln,Ne.)
Dirk Bogarde Collection is wonderful. Dirk was a beautiful man, and a great actor. The 4 films here are all presented well. Campbell's Kingdom 1957, Penny Princess 1951, Simba 1955, and Agent 83/4 1964. If you are a fan of Dirk Bogarde you will enjoy these films.

"Wonderful films for all the family" - By Peterllew
Great fifties and sixties comedy films true British humor great cast. Much better than the TV series called Doctor in the house, which did not have the same appeasl. Dirk Bogarde a well known British Actor and James Roberston Justice are the actors which make this whole series a worthwhile watch.

"An Excellent post-war move based on a real person who was ..." - By Robert C. Day (Ottawa, Ontario Canada)
An Excellent post-war move based on a real person who was on site both as a minor actor and as a technical advisor. Almost all of the members were former soldiers which added a great deal of authenticity to the movie. I recommend it to all action and adventure movies buffs

"Susan Strassberg and Dirk Bogarde in Cyprus" - By Barry Lane (Toronto, Ontario)
McGuire, Go Home is the inadequate and alternate title of this excellent film regarding the divisions between the Cypriots and British. Dirk Bogarde's intelligence manifests itself in almost every frame. The film is quietly directed by Ralph Thomas in the British movie style of the time, and while a little dynamism would not have been amiss, this is an almost great picture. The DVD is better than just adequate. Would love to see it on Blu Ray. Not yet available.

    Cast a Dark Shadow [VHS]
    VHS ~ Dirk Bogarde
"bad Teddy Bare" - By Peter Shelley (Sydney, New South Wales Australia)
This film based on a play called Murder Mistaken by Janet Green is directed with pace by Lewis Gilbert, and only reveals it's stage origins at the climax when the cast yell at each other. We begin with Dirk Bogarde as the irresistably named Teddy Bare, married to an older woman, who he kills for the inheritance. The murder occurs offscreen, with the camera moving to a curtain fluttering in front of an open window. Gilbert presents Bogarde as threatening from the opening where his wife (the touching Mona Washbourne) screams and he glowers as they ride the ghost train at an amusement park. Gilbert also uses Wellesian deep focus framing of the couple, for an expressionist effect. However Bogarde's next intended victim, his new wife Margaret Lockwood is a lot more resistant to his charms. It's hard to decide which of Lockwood or Bogarde is the more unlikeable character, ... full review

"One of the most beautiful movies of all time" - By A. J. De Koning (Almere, Holland)
I've only seen this movie once in the late fifties when it was shown on TV overhere in Holland, but it was one of the Dirk Bogarde movies I liked best and John Whitely was another great asset. It was a touching movie that one never forgets. I've waited for it being released on DVD until now. There were already a few DVD's available of this movie but none of them had english subtitles which I need. This one has, allthough it is not mentioned on the Amazon site, but look at the VCI site who are releasing the movie. Ofcourse I can't give an opinion about the quality of the DVD but most of the VCI releases are very good. I should say, don't miss this one, you won't regret.

"SEE OR OWN THIS ALL-STAR WW2 CLASSIC!" - By Ronald Adams
Basically, "A Bridge Too Far" is similar to 1962's "The Longest Day" in that it boasts an all-star cast in a replication of an actual World War II military operation with character depictions of real-life war heroes. The director, Sir Richard Attenborough, famous, in part, for his appearance in "The Great Escape", another Sixties WW2 classic, and the Oscar-winning director of the Eighties biographical epic, "Gandhi", here serves up another war epic that hasn't lost any of it's power or glory. The all-star cast is a virtual who's who of late Seventies British cinema and former Oscar winners. For every Sean Connery, Michael Caine, Anthony Hopkins, and Lord Laurence Olivier, there is a Gene Hackman, Robert Redford, James Caan, and Elliott Gould (all in their prime). This epic will be the best three hours you have spent in a long time.

"'Doctor' series with Dirk Bogarde" - By Edony V. Elder (St Petersburg)
Love all the 'Doctor at' series as we love the Dr Who series. Grew up and lived around the corner from Dirk Bogarde so very familiar with his films and him. Saw many of the 'stars' who visited him too. Peter Finch, Dawn Adams, John Gregson, Kay Kendall etc. Brings back memories of growing up in London.
