If you are a fan of Dungeons and Dragons or other adventure/exploration games, you should definitely give WoA a try. My two kids (13 & 15) and I have not been able to stop playing since we got this. The game requires no "Dungeon Master" and it pits you and your friends against the dungeon beasts. Several scenarios can be chosen to launch the game, and these varying in difficulty and duration. We found that the first two scenarios were more about learning the flow of the game, but things really got fun in the third scenario (first one that used the chamber tiles).
The game comes with predetermined heroes, from which each player chooses. Each has unique abilities, with cards to remind you of the damage, healing or characteristic of abilities. The dungeon is created from tiles that are randomly selected ... full review(182) -

I got this game as a present for my husband since we had been talking about trying to play D & D together but just didn't have the time or the crew to start a real, full-length adventure. He was already familiar with the series, but we were both beginners at the rules and nitty-gritty logistics.
We have really enjoyed the game thus far. We have both been surprised by how engaging the play is. Waiting to see where the next tile will lead us and what the next card will bring is a lot of fun, and I think that this introduction has whetted our appetites for dungeon crawling; we already have plans to expand our collection and have found additional adventures to use when we've successfully completed the enclosed adventure pack.

Played a quick session with the Wife who is completely new to these types of games. I enjoyed the mechanics, wish they had some new character/races introduced with ToEE D&D Supplement. Note, as many have said, this is not D&D, this is a board-game flavored with D&D, borrowing some elements of 4th ed, and this one integrates some 5e mechanics like advantage(roll twice, take best)/disadvantage(roll twice take worst).(107) -

I'm a big fan of games with good theme, so I was a reluctant to pick this game up after reading other reviews that were saying the theme was just added on to the mechanics. But... I'm fan of worker placement games... and I'm a D&D player from way back. So, I pulled the trigger...so to speak.
I'm glad I did. This game is fun, has good design elements, and great production value.

The box and insert for this game are just awesome. I have lots of games where the insert seems to be an after thought (I'm looking at you FFG). The box is unique but functional and the insert is one of the best I've seen. I had previously purchased the older version of these which included the Drow Elf Drizzt, this new set has much better detail than the previous version, however it does NOT include Drizzt. These are a great addition for D&D PC's! Looking forward to the next campaign!(23) -

Great intro to the world of fantasy RPG for the young ones. However, for the slightly older crowd, I have developed these additional rules.
Below are optional my rules for the classic DUNGEON board game. My thinking here was that the original game back in the 70’s was probably good for 8+ year olds, but 21st century 8+ years might find the old game mechanics a bit too simplistic. The rules I created add just a bit more mechanics that better represent the flavor of D&D (visually and mechanically), show off class abilities for the Fighter and Cleric, and introduces the use of multi-dimensional dice that D&D is so well known. There is also a smidgen of decision making and risks on the players side, versus simply rolling dice. I would say these optional rules might suit the age group 7 - 9 years ... full review(243) -

"Heavy Enough to lie flat, light enough to carry with you" - By Amazon Customer
This battlemat is heavier vinyl rather than the normal plastic/laminated maps I have previously used. This is a good thing, because it lays flat with little coaxing after being stored in a roll. This means using terrain tiles - and pretty much the whole experience in general - is easier. The markers are nice with built-in erasers. I agree with other reviewers you may wish to get full-size Expo 2 or equivalent dry erase markers. The grid lines are thick, making black marker hard to see and thus thicker lines drawn with other colors are customary for drawing walls along the lines. If I had one thing negative to say, the grid lines would be better as thin lines. Currently, they sort of dominate the visual experience, making it a little difficult to see the lines you draw.(32) -

The game components are excellent and I love the custom dice. The cards have good artwork, the counters are thick and double-sided, and the box looks like a little (3”W x 3”L x 3”T) treasure chest and is used to store and draw from for treasure tokens during the game.
My 14-year-old son and I have played this a dozen or so times now, and it’s a simple and fun game. Playing time for two players is about 15 minutes, and only slightly more for 3 or 4 players, so it’s definitely a quick-play game, suitable as a warm-up game for something longer, or to play while waiting for other players to arrive. It also has a solo mode which plays exactly like the multiplayer, and strength is the biggest failing of Dungeon Roll.

These dice are definitely worth the price. Each set has a marbling effect which makes them look amazing. The d4 does feel a tad smaller than I am used to, but roll just as well as any other d4 I have used. My set came with sets of red, blue, green, black and white. The 6 and 9 numbers are clearly differentiated with a period at their bases.
The bags aren't soft to the touch, but do their jobs well and hold their form. Their draw strings work well and the fabric adheres to them with little movement, which is a major plus. Though they're a plain black color, these feel like quality products.
I will definitely recomend this product in the future.(156) -

The back side is covered in all the tables you constantly have to check the book for. AND tables that aren't in the book! Tables like a Name Generator and a Stuff Happens list! Their colors are beautiful and the numbering is clear. The package got here faster than expected which is a bonus. My only issue is that they are a bit on the lighter side than I'd like. That said, overall I am satisfied with my purchase.
The 6 and 9 are distinguish between with a "." instead of "_"
