If you're someone like me who was really intimidated about the prospect of investing, I highly recommend this book. I read another similar book so I would have a point of comparison (Invest Like a Pro!), and this was definitely the better of the two (although it was helpful to read the other book as well). It's easy to follow and presents a well balanced view of what's out there without getting too technical and overly complicated (the additional links for extra reading are useful and highly appreciated). At the advice of the author, I have opened an account with IvyVest, which is AMAZING--super easy to use, well researched, and totally takes the intimidation factor (i.e. time and worry) out of investing, so that you can easily get started with 100% confidence. interested in investing and becoming financially free? If so, get this book. There are so many books out there on investing, but this one is a great place to start. It really breaks the process down into manageable chunks of information that someone new to investing can comprehend. If every young adult who is getting out into the world and beginning to earn an income read this book and applied the principles within, they would really set themselves up for a prosperous life and retirement. My husband and I have listened to some interviews with Jim Rickards before, and he has always seemed very intelligent and logical. My husband wanted this book for Christmas, I gave it to him, and we brought it along on our vacation.
Typically, when we go on vacation we bring 3-4 books along, and I read as my husband drives (or vice versa). We read until we get tired of a topic, and then we switch books so that we can hear something else for a few hours.
WELL, we started out this trip with half a chapter from a pregnancy-related book. Then we switched to Currency Wars, and my husband never wanted us to switch back! "Good read, this really changes your mindset about retirement" - By Hanson Le
At the of the day, if you want to retire you have to be making passive income. You need to make investments that will compound and make you more money. Basically have money working hard for you. What I learned is that retirement isn't just social security itself but you have to financially literate in order to really have a successful retirement plan and spend a good amount of time enjoying your hard work and labor. This is what I got from this book, so it was highly educational and got me thinking. I recommend this book.(13) -

Every chapter starts off with the overall concept of the meaning of the ratio covered in that particular chapter, usually within one to two pages and then follows up with a few examples with concise and to the point explanations.
I almost bought some commercial properties with a business line of credit for downpayment and even made my own spreadsheet to do my due diligence. Try as I may, the numbers were putting me upside down and the interest rate on my proposed downpayment was really nagging at me and 'not working.' Mr. Gallinelli explains to us why that is so. There are so many books on Real Estate Investing that I didn't know where to go for good information. Saw this had good reviews on Amazon and got it. The author does a great job breaking down what you need to know and the methodology of finding the right property for you. Good read and can be read in a week. Helpful tables and spreadsheets to assist you in going forward. I thought it was helpful.(14) -

You can't go wrong with professional advice from someone who's been a financial advisor for 25 years for the price of a book! This book provided a great look into everything from investing to estate planning. I particularly enjoyed his chapter on the Dividend Income Accelerator. He covers complicated topics that many other books don't - this is a great read if you want to expand beyond a basic knowledge of personal finance.(15)
