"Beautiful technicolor print." - By Martin L (Florida)
Finally, 20th Century Fox has released an official region 1 version of "Inferno". And it is a very nice technicolor print, in it's original aspect ratio of 1.37: 1. Others can debate as to whether or not a technicolor film can be a film noir, I'll just enjoy for what it is--a fairly straight forward story an unfaithful wife (Rhonda Fleming) and her lover (William Lundigan) trying to kill her wealthy, drunkard of a husband (Robert Ryan). And as a bonus, Rhonda Fleming looks gorgeous in technicolor.(48) -
"White Witch Doctor" - By Nadine W. Larson
I was delighted with this DVD! I saw it years ago and loved it but have never seen it become available until now. I loved it even more. And it was even in technicolor. I'm a huge fan of Susan Hayward.(31) -
"Ramona: A Girl of Spirit and Adventure" - By H. Fenton (Palestine, TX USA)
Loretta Young stars as the title character, a lovely, spirited girl torn between two worlds: that of her mothers (Indian) and her father's (the White men) as the son of her benefactor vies for her hand alongside (Ameche's ) character a Christianized Indian rancher with whom she connects. They two fall passionately in love amidst a sea of disapproval and head west to forge a new trail which they do most fantastically until tragedy strikes. Still, their love helps them surmount countless obstacles.
Bittersweet story with equally bittersweet ending. A well-crafted, heartfelt story this it timeless!(16) -
"This movie was my personal epiphany! So glad to have this memento on DVD!" - By Kerry L Daniel (Asheville, NC United States)
That's right...epiphany. Don't forget, back in the '60's we didn't have gay clubs in high school or characters like Will and Jack on "Will and Grace," or Arizona and Callie on "Grey's Anatomy." We had Shirley MacLaine hanging herself after falling in love with Audrey Hepburn in the "Children's Hour." It's true that the character of Jill in "The Fox" does off herself at the end by standing under a tree she knew was going to fall on her, BUT before that part happens there are some delirious (ummm, that's spelled very much like delicious) kissing scenes. And even though there is no nudity, the blouse unbuttoning scene is the most erotic movie scene I in my memory. You know, it's really true...sometimes less is more.
If you're a Sandy Dennis fan, you will definitely want to add this gem to your collection. ... full review(36) -

"Timely release of a long awaited movie." - By Pvt. W. G. Kirby Amazon Customer
As I write this, the shock of the loss of nineteen firefighters in the major wildfires in Arizona is still an open wound on the hearts of all who consider such men and women doing this as a career as true heroes. Indeed, my DVD arrived on the day of the memorial service in Arizona for the fallen "Hotshots". Forest fires, newly coined as "Wildfires" are part of life in the American West. They will always occur, and teams of firefighters will always go into danger to extinguish them to lessen loss of life and property. And unfortunately, from time to time, some of these courageous women and men will lose the fight and their lives.
The Red Skies of Montanna was produced in 1952 and is the story of the loss of five of six members of a crew of elite "smokejumpers" working on a remote ... full review(39) -
"A very young Rex Harrison" - By Mhucks2000
Follows the book fairly well but without the controversial relationships that would have been impossible to detail in a movie of that era. For those of us who like the old movies, this is a good one!(34) -

"A delightful story" - By Garry D. Talbot
Since I married a Norwegian,. and her family went through the occupation, -- Steinbeck gives the viewer an insight into what life must have been like living under the Nazis. A salute to the courage of the Norwegian people and all those throughout Europe that resisted the tyranny of Hitler and his gang. Steinbeck did an amazing job writing this, and the film makers also did an A-1 job!(24) -

Price: $37.99 "Well, I thought they were funny." - By Linda Muro (Anchorage, AK USA)
All funny...my criteria for like-ability! Have become quite the Clifton Webb fan. Even the Remarkable Mr. Pennypacker humorously learned that your sins will find you out. Scoutmaster was in black and white.(2) -
"Great film noir overdue for U.S. release" - By Phil Muse (Stone Mountain, GA)
I had to wait as long for the shipment of this Brazilian release of this classic film noir to arrive as it took Noah to find dry land - forty days - but it was worth it. The movie asks the question what is so insidiously evil about the nature of crime, and answers it in the character of Martin Rome (Richard Conte, in a great performance). But Rome is such a charming character (and he HAS been framed for a murder he didn't commit), so it requires police lieutenant Candella (Victor Mature) to make the final assessment for us about all the people who have come to grief through helping this cunning criminal. A dark, provocative picture that is overdue for domestic release in TCF's Film Noir Collection. Considering its origin, the English subtitles in this foreign home video release are exceptionally good. And it is compatible with ... full review(26) -
"Prime Ritz Brothers and a BEAUTIFUL print" - By Ricky
Fox Cinema Archive is coming thru in spades with the Ritz Brothers. Only 3 more tritles to go, and all of the team's Fox films will be out. The print used for this release is BEAUTIFUL! 35mm elements for sure and not a mark on it! It even has the long censored scene with Willie "Sleep N Eat" Best introducing the Brothers. This scene, running about 30 seconds has never been in any TV package print. It evan has the Fox "$250,000 Quiz Picture" tag on the end before the cast credits. So now we have the complete 68 minute film, and I screened it on a 12' screen and it looks AMAZING!
I'm sure we will see "Life Begins In College", "The Gorilla" & "Pack Up Your Troubles" in the future. Just imagine "The Gorilla" from a Fox 35mm print. I for one, cannot wait.(2) -

"Fear not, deathrow inmate, Gloria Stuart is on the case" - By H. Bala (Recently moved back to Carson, California, or as I call it... the center of the universe)
Island in the Sky is a downed aircraft survival movie from 1953 that starred John Wayne, but that's not this one. This is the second-tiered Island in the Sky that 20th Century Fox trotted out in 1938 and runs only some minutes past an hour. If you'd heard of Gloria Stuart, it's most likely her as the 100-year-old Old Rose from James Cameron's Titanic. I'll have you know, in 1938, she was very much in her prime, all grace and gorgeousness and easy decorum.
Yeah, son, I know her best from watching The Old Dark House (1932) and The Invisible Man (1933) and her supporting roles in two Shirley Temple vehicles: Poor Little Rich Girl (1936) and Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm (1938). But, even in her more obscure onscreen parts, there was just something about Gloria Stuart that struck me. Given, she's a looker. And she had class. But ... full review(3)
