Superb. I can't believe I had not even heard of it, hopefully this DVD release will help it find a new audience and some deserved critical acclaim. It's billed as film noir, but it really isn't; it's more an extremely complex, suspenseful family drama. But that doesn't even do it justice. The screenplay is terrific, subtle, thoughtful, and at the same time, razor sharp. Some of the exchanges between Conte and Hayward in particular are electrifying. Talk about two `tough cookies' that ignite when they get together. And you really begin to care deeply about what happens to them. (All of the acting is top notch, across the board.) And then there is the direction by Joseph L. Mankiewicz. The movie is so beautifully crafted and feels as if it could have been made yesterday, it's gritty and urban and fresh. "A delightful story" - By Garry D. Talbot
Since I married a Norwegian,. and her family went through the occupation, -- Steinbeck gives the viewer an insight into what life must have been like living under the Nazis. A salute to the courage of the Norwegian people and all those throughout Europe that resisted the tyranny of Hitler and his gang. Steinbeck did an amazing job writing this, and the film makers also did an A-1 job!(24) -

"Terrific old classic WWI film - what a cast and what a story." - By Ironmike (California)
I've been a film buff since the late fifties. My Dad always liked this one and I saw it one afternoon and then it vanished for decades. It appeared recently and I purchased the DVD and the good old days returned. A powerful cast set in a French sector of the western front. Some terrific battle sequences but the plot carries two stories: a steamy romantic triangle and a father and son struggle amid the brutality of trench warfare. Warner Baxter is terrific in his role as the commander of the French infantry unit that faces the Germans and let me say, June Lang is stunning in her role as the love interest. She looks fabulous and for some reason, she bailed out of the film world shortly after this classic was released.

It great to finally have this movie available.
It's hard to find Robert Lansing's work available on DVD.
The quality of the DVD is decent, no complaints.
It would be great if the second movie (The Spy With The Perfect Cover) adapted from this TV Series "The Man Who Never Was", would also be available for purchase.
Robert Lansing is an actor who should not be forgotten.
I'd be happy to own both movies based of the TV Series.

"Glory Brigade, The" - By Nicholas M. Zallas (Lexington, MA)
This was one of my favorite Korean War movies and I am glad I was able to get a clear copy of this B&W film. It's not one you see too often and is a good example of the difficulties of US troops serving with, and under, foreign allies (especially if they out rank you).(19) -

A beautiful print of an interesting and very pleasant Western. The sequence where the three friends close in on the villian (played by John Kellogg) remains one of the best of its kind.(12) -

I LOOKED AT THIS MOVIE FOR MONTHS ,I FINALLY BROKE DOWN AND BOUGHT IT .I WAS AFRAID IT WOULDN,T PLAY ON U.S.A. BLU-RAY PLAYERS . Well the good news it plays well on my Blu-ray player sound and picture are great . So stop waiting like I did and buy this great old western. Super Happy with purchase.(245) -

"A Wonderful Memory Brought Back to Life!" - By Decider2
This movie was a childhood memory and has been on my "look for" list for decades. While a remake of a Tyrone Power film (Son of Fury?), it still stood on its own. With Finlay Curry (Ivanhoe, People Will Talk) in a supporting role, it was a pleasure to see again!(22) -

Lloyd Nolan and Carol Landis are excellent. Great story line of how the guerilla units and their movements had to survive in the Philippines
