"Excellent guide, well organized. The only book you'll need." - by Art Smart (Hartsdale, NY USA)
This guide was the one we used every day in our recent trip. I might quibble with some of the commentary but the information was well organized and help us to plan our days when we stayed in Nice, and traveled on alternating days to the hill towns and to the coast. This is the only book you'll need. (But we do suggest supplementing it with current localized food recommendations from TripAdvisor and Yelp.)

"Wonderful read and charming illustrations!" - by Ragnar Kamp
A beautiful journey through the French Riviera, sure to inspire others to travel the same path — or at least pick up a paint brush! Virginia Johnson’s artwork is delightfully displayed in this unique artist’s guide. My 9 year old daughter and I enthusiastically poured over the pages, both excited by the artwork and at the prospect of visiting these locales in person.

"First Class Literary Journalism and Fun to read" - by Bernard M. Patten (Seabrook, TX United States)
I got this book at a museum store in Newport. It has an attractive blue cover with a picture of Picasso following and shading with an umbrella Francoise Gilot, one of his many mistresses. The illustrations and photos are excellent and text well research and easy to read. So if you wish to know about how the rich and famous lived and loved on the French Rivera, this is the book for you. Learn about how Cezanne painted side by side with Renoir, the landscapes that inspired Matisse, the decadent life-style of F. Scott Fitzgerald, Graham Green, W. Somerset Maugham, Coco Channel, and of course Brigitte Bardot, the dream girl of most teen age boys. Then seek out and enjoy the real quill in Cyril Connolly’s novel The Rock Pool, which covers the same type of people in a similar location.

"In-Depth Immensely Practical Guide" - by Skye Goddess (Celebration, FL)
If you are even thinking about visiting the French Riviera, you need this book!! It has absolutely everything you need to feel like a pro on your trip. The author has been to many towns in the south of France (many times) but focuses on the two that she finds the most sojourn friendly - Nice, and Villefranche-sur-Mer. The book includes recommendations for lodging, restaurants, and there’s even a wonderful choice of 3 different itineraries she has put together that all look superb. She gives tips for safety, and places to avoid as well. There is also a really useful Q&A in the back which answers lots of worthwhile questions. Seriously, if you are going to the French Riviera, get this!

"A great book for travelers and book fans" - by Cliff Jones (London)
At first I was sceptical about this book. As someone who knows the South of France quite well, and an avid reader, my expectations were high, but this book didn't disappoint me, to say the least.
I expected it to be informative rather than entertaining but it turned out to be both. It's filled with anecdotes which I had never heard before. Virginia Woolfe's description of an afternoon on the rocks in Cassis is not something that would have made The Hours, but it's just as interesting to travellers, Cote d'Azur fans and bookworms.
The format is original and works well. The author starts with a short introcution to the Cote d'Azur and dives in from the west at Hyères, taking the reader on a literary journey to the Italian border via all towns along the coast (via a few villages in the hills).

"Beautiful coffee table book and full of riveting content" - by Sally Cox (Pittsburgh )
I have long been fascinated with the 1920s and this book tells a delightful story of Gerald and Sara Murphy, two Americans who took France by storm and hung out with F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Cole Porter, to name a few. Beautifully reproduced photos and a lovely, colorful story of their live in the French Riviera. I recommend this to anyone interested in the Jazz Age and the history of the French RIviera.

"Excellent resource and small" - by Natasha Basley
Excellent resource and small, light guide. Great maps and write ups of a gorgeous region of France. We loved our trip and this seller shipped promptly - the book was in brand new condition, even though I'd ordered it used. Five stars.

"Provides what it promises!" - by David Bennett (Vancouver, WA USA)
It provides exactly what I need by distilling down large guidebooks into recommended "must see" places and activities, in high publication quality with handy maps, including a pullout pocket one so you don't have to look like a lost tourist.

"Love, Infidelity and Lifestyle on the Riverina" - by Judy Lloyd
Lovell transports the reader into another time and place - and its not fiction. It was an entertaining, seriously researched read about an era and the lifestyle of the rich and famous, as well as the infamous. Mary Lovell is a great story teller.

"Uncorked and Enjoyed" - by Amazon Customer
Paul Shore's account of his year in Provence was a delightful surprise. I followed his curiosity as he studied the closed game of pétanque and managed not only to learn the game and play with the village pros, but was eventually accepted into their inner circle! I chuckled because our competitive family plays bocce ball on a regular basis, with no mercy for the opponents and much trash talk to throw them off guard. I highly recommend this endearing read.
