"Sleek Apple HomeKit compatible and KEYLESS Door Lock!" - by MCSims
Perfect, sleek Apple HomeKit compatible KEYLESS Lock! There is NO Keyhole to bump or pick! Once set up, you DON'T need your phone or a fob on you to Lock/Unlock the door which is what a lot of the others require.
Installation: Easy to install in an existing standard deadbolt door hole. Remove old deadbolt, install new stuff, per instructions. I personally didn't have to change anything. Comes with three different depth depth screws for attaching the exterior touch keypad to the interior locking/network mechanism to accommodate most all door thicknesses. I used the medium(black) ones in my set up.
Set up:
Pretty easy, just follow Yale Secure app instructions (download and login first), Need to Set Up Master Code first, I believe.

Two minor issue during set up, not enough to lose a star:
1) Instructions are little confusing on the initial "Master Code" Setup part due to the way the instructions are written ... full review

"Does what I wanted" - by ALB
I bought this so that I could set up a pin for my son for an hour after his school gets out. So far, it has worked exactly as I wanted. I can lock and unlock it with my phone (set up through my Apple TV) or by using the touch pad. It was easy to install and fit in the hole already in my door.

The only thing I would mention is that the key pad has a pretty bad delay at times - up to 15 seconds. If I go out of my door and then go to lock it, the display will come up but it will not respond to my touch immediately. If I give it 10-15 seconds, then it will respond when I touch it. Not sure if this is a defect with the product as a whole or just mine. It doesn't bother me all ... full review

"Easy security for my door" - by Nicholas Calderone (Evansville, Indiana)
When I tried the Ultraloq UL3 from U-tec I'll admit I was a little apprehensive. I didn't really like the idea of my door being at the mercy of battery life or a computer. It wasn't long after I opened the box and did a little research that my concerns were laid to rest. When I took the lock out of the box I was surprised by the weight and the quality of its construction. This thing is heavy and well built. Obviously I didn't try to smash it or anything but I can tell it is very well made and won't come apart if it's tampered with. Security being my main concern, I was eager to give it a try at this point.

In the box there were a couple of installation templates and instructional booklets along with all the tools and hardware required for installation. The manufacturer boasts that ... full review

"Installed easily. Works nicely with HomeKit. App is not great." - by Jake (Pacifica, CA)
I got this so I could have Airbnb guests let themselves in without me giving keys. Easy install. Looks nice. Easy for guests to use.

The app leaves something to be desired. It’s not the worst but it’s not great either. You can set up and delete PINs. But you can’t put labels on them so you know who you gave that PIN to, which means I have to track somewhere else.

One thing I expected was to be able to tell when a certain PIN was used to open the door. Then I could know if it was my cohost or a cleaner or the actual guest. Would be nice if they added that.

In the end, the fact that it works with HomeKit is great. Using Siri on my Apple Watch to unlock my door feels magical. haha

"Initial Installation -- Functions as expected." - by Michael (Dalton, GA)
Important: Be careful during installation to ensure that the lock can cleanly and smoothly lock without having to push / pull the door.

Important: The radio module does not come pre-installed. It is in a small white box contained in the cardboard and is easy to overlook. Make sure you don't throw anything away until you've installed the radio module.

There are some contradictory reviews on this lock insofar as how it behaves with Alexa, so I wanted to set those straight.

If you have an Echo Plus, you have everything you need. That's all I have (aside from a other Echo devices around the home). I own no additional hubs of any kind. If you are also only using an Echo Plus, please make sure you're purchasing the Zigbee version of this lock.

The unlock feature is disabled by default. You must enable it by selecting the ... full review

"Smart lock out of the box, super smart when used with Samsung Smartthings" - by Kaiyoti
Great lock. This one is actually my second schlage lock. The convenience factor for these locks is life changing. If you have Samsung Smartthings, look into scripts that will push this to the next level. I'm talking features like burner codes, remote code programming, per user notifications, per code events, etc...

If any of you are wondering about battery life, it's amazing. Been running my first one for a month now and it's only dropped 1%.

"Pricey but good option for a slightly less permanent install." - by T. Smith (Sacramento, CA)
I was in an apartment at the time of purchase and wanted to have the option to allow guests to have access and not have keys made. Turns out I use more for the auto-open feature but that is very useful...when it works consistently. I have the internet connection add on and it seems to work sometimes or sometimes it waits until I get close enough to connect to the standard bluetooth connection. Other times it shows opening on the app but never happens until I press the button in the app or manually open the door with a key. I would say it works on the auto open / gps about 90-95% of the time. It could be the app, it could be the GPS on my phone, or could be the many wifi signals of neighbors in the area. I would still recommend this for someone who cannot ... full review

"Nice DIY Homekit Lock" - by Jay Galvin (SF Bay Area)
Hardware is great, technology works fine. I installed it easily in our 20 year old double doors, and was happy to find all the matching Schlage hardware, (like dummy handles)

So why a 4 star? The iOS software is meh. At best a three star. I can't make settings to say 'when this code is used, text me'. I either get every open close all day long, or none.

And since it doesn't work with IFTTT, and Homekit is still script-brain-dead, I have no way to say "If the house is empty, and someone unlocks the door, let me know."

Last, no lock has this that I am aware of, it would be nice to know when the lock says its locked, but the door is ajar. i.e. tumbler is out, but door not closed. That will require a next generation lock.

"Best smart lock on the market." - by Richard Case
Very nice lock. The best smart lock on the market. A few minor complaints is that the lock is a little loud. Loud enough that it alerts people that you’re locking or worse unlocking the door. And the touchscreen isn’t as responsive as what I would like. Definitely needs some kinks worked out.

"Be sure to get a Gen 2! Compatibility and performance are excellent." - by D. Matheny (Austin, TX)
I've been playing around/trying different smart locks over the last couple of years, and hadn't really found anything that worked better than a standard keypad - until now.

A couple of months ago, I replaced the keypad lock coming in from our garage with one of these. Shortly after, I put one on my workshop out back - and the results have been so positive that we now have them on all our exterior doors.

Before going into details, I need to specify that you should definitely make sure you get the Gen 2 version of this lock. After trying the Gen 1 previously, I suspect most of the bad reviews here may be mistakenly referencing the previous version.

[*** Installation ***]

If you've ever installed a lock, you already know how easy it is to do. Having said that, on the first one I got I just started slapping it ... full review

"Nice Smart Lock, I love the discreet keypad and auto lock function" - by Amazon Customer (IRVINE, CA)
I have then thought that I’ll just be happy to have a lock that locks by itself whenever I forgot to lock (which frequently happens). I’m satisfied with its auto-locking mechanism and I got to appreciate it more when I got to hear another lock that my friend have. PIN Genie auto-locking sounds better with customizable auto lock time.
I like the discreet keypad, but at the beginning, my old mom found it hard to recognize the shuffling numbers. Surprisingly, PIN Genie got that covered, they have the fixed mode for beginners like my mom. I can switch over by pressing the logo button. The smart lock is well designed to fit in all the family member requirements. I got wrong color, contacted customer support. They are responsible and offered exchange even it’s shipped from Amazon warehouse, but I found the Satin Nickel works great on my door so ... full review

"Good bridge for Alexa to operate August Smart Locks for doors" - by Bev Martin (Medford, OR USA)
We bought these bridges to go with the August Smart Lock. The bridge allows Alexa to operate the lock. Note: Alexa will not unlock the door on command but she will lock it. Makes sense - you wouldn't want a thief tell her to unlock the door and have her do it... The bridge plugs into an outlet and has to be within 15 feet or so of the lock, the closer the better. This is the only inconvenience of the bridge. Depending on where you install the lock, you might be limited in options on where to plug the bridge in. The bridge was easy to install. The August software, on the smart phone, walks you through it. The bridge also has a reset button if installation doesn't work out well the first time. The bridge was a necessity and ... full review

"Ordered two, one was DOA" - by mjsoutherland (Atlanta, GA)
We ordered two of these and one was DOA. Returned for a replacement. Strangely the replacement got lost in shipment on the way here. That order ended up getting refunded. We then order another replacement which arrived and worked fine.

I will say this is a good affordable solution. The fingerprint reader is a little picky about finger placement. Once you practice a few times it's not a problem.

"Works great. Only option for 1 1/2" bore holes. Remote access and alerts work great." - by Edward Barnett (Cambridge, MA United States)
UPDATE AFTER ONE YEAR: I've been using two of these locks, one in New England and one in Florida, for the past year. Both locks have worked flawlessly, both locally and remotely. The Florida lock even survived Hurricane Irma. Being able to let repair people into our place remotely, without giving out the code, was a huge plus, as was being able to verify that the door was re-locked after they left. Integration with Wink Hub 2, and therefore with Alexa, is excellent -- has worked perfectly since Day 1. One feature that I didn't think about much in advance but that has proved to be valuable is that you can set up remote alerts so you get a notice on your phone any time the lock is unlocked. Super handy for knowing that the kids and parents arrived home safely.

Bought this based on the recommendation of a local locksmith. ... full review
