"Interesting book, but not top shelf" - by Geoffrey Guy
This text contains many useful and interesting insights and commentaries about the functions of various parts of the body. However, the author could have found a better publisher. The proof reading was poor. In my random reading of different parts of the book, I found numerous typos, and misused or omitted words.

That said, the lay person could still learn a great deal from this text.

"Great book to teach children about our body" - by tats
I absolutely love this book. I bought it for my 4 year old son who is very curious and asks a lot about how many parts of our body work. He is small now but the book is very dynamic and keeps his attention. I am sure we will be reading it for years.

"The Bridge To Help You & Your Child Learn In a Fun Way" - by Laurie J. Mitchell (Kirkland, Washington)
I had the privilege of using this book as a guideline for teaching a group of "home school" youngsters from 1st-9th grade. Science can be a scary subject to those of us who remember the mean and fierce physics/chemistry/biology teacher. Mr. Parker makes science enjoyable and exciting creating a feeling of glad anticipation for the next lesson. The experiments are easy and help the children visually see the workings of this majestic creation called the human body. My students specifically enjoyed the experiment having to do with how the inner ear works. Please do yourself and your kids a favor by buying this book. You will learn to love science for the first time in your life.

"Remarkable!!! Makes understanding the boby clear for anyone!!!" - by joe adams
Purchased for a friend who has multiple health issues but didn't understand how the her body worked. She keeps saying who now I understand!!! Is really a godsend for people whose
body is a mystery.
Says volumes to the sad state of our education system in the U.S.

"wonderful drawings full of detail" - by microjoe
This book is very useful and kid safe to teach children how the body works. It has great illustrations by Colin King, who illustrates other books for Usborne publishing, and I love his detailed drawings that always have little funny things hidden here and there. How the body works works including food digestion, breathing and more. 48 pages long.

"Great book series, on a theme, the best books I've seen to simplify, but still give good information on the topics to the reader" - by Courtland J. Carpenter (Fort Wayne, Indiana United States)
It might say something that I liked this book so much that I ordered another 5 books in the series, on business, food, the body, money, and psychology. People have tried in the past to make good books that are informative and give people real information without being boring or just plain lame. Time Life made a series on a number of things in the past, but mostly they just lacked real information, I have the one on computers, and it's only for laymen. If you're really interested in the topic you won't learn much you can't pick up from a TV special. Dummies books for various topics are mostly in title only, there's a reason it says a "reference for the rest of us" on them". It's basically because, it's really an annotated text book on the subject to make it seem easy. Let us ... full review

"Very thoughtful approach to teaching kids anatomy principles" - by Vaibhav Bawa (Foxburg, PA)
This book has been put together with a lot of thought on how curious kids understand and learn anatomy best. Most kids are curious about their own bodies and how they function. My 6 year old started asking questions from my anatomy books, so I decided to buy her a copy of this one.
I wouldn't say she grasps all the concepts fully but enough to quench her curiosity. I think she will continue learning from this book as her understanding expands over the next 3-4 years.
A great feature in the book is how the images are arranged in a series with translucent plastic overlay sheets building the picture, corresponding to the notations at the top. For example, what happens to an apple at various stages of digestion, including in the mouth, stomach, small intestines and so on. This feature alone makes it a great learning tool. I would highly recommend ... full review

"Great overview of the body systems." - by Amazon Customer (Billerica, MA United States)
I love this book! We are using it for an overview of the body systems for my 5th grade homeschooler, along with "Head to Toe Science" by Jim Wiese (quick human body experiments, separated out by body system). The see-through diagram is great - not too complicated, but detailed enough to be realistic. We have been using those pictures for tracing/sketching. I would put this book at a 5th grade (or maybe middle-school?) level. It is to the point, but is brief (2 pages per system), so should be considered as an overview and not a detailed study.

"Best of the genre" - by Srikanth Goli
This is such a well thought out book, that it is so simple, yet so broad. The approach of flaps is very inviting to my 5 and 8 year olds, and a respite to me from reading all the endless Barbie and Princess volumes to them. I would not call it comprehensive on the 8 or 9 subjects it covers, but has enough hints to generate curiosity and a could be a good transition from fiction they are mostly drawn to. I would look for more books from the authoer.

"LOVE this book!" - by Elwood P. Dowd (Carrboro, NC United States)
Grew up with a battered copy of this colorful classic. Love the images of little cooks stirring enzymes into a river of digesting food. The illustration of rickets still gets under my skin.

The science might not all be spot on, but, y'know, it does a pretty good job of showing the body as a conglomeration of interlocking systems.

"Best book about the human body I have seen." - by Mom2Two
We love this book. It is very nicely illustrated with accurate depictions of the body and body systems. We started reading this book as a talking point about how amazing the body is with our boys when they were 6 1/2 and 4 and will continue to go back to it as they have more questions. We appreciate the section on reproduction especially because it is tasteful and just simply describes the facts.
