"A terrific book with appropriate subjectivity and guidelines" - by BruceE
A terrific book with appropriate subjectivity and guidelines. No sequel necessary; only follow through and attention to detail by the men (and women) who read, shop, dress and enjoy. It also proves that looking good has never been easier, considering the slovenliness of so many today.

"Really helped me to turn over a new leaf!" - by A. Aurelius (Bay Area, California)
About two years ago, my wife purchased this classic book for me by Alan Flusser for Christmas. At first, I planned to store the book in the closet. I had a style already which often consisted of khaki slacks and clean golf shirts and was not keen on considering a new one. However, during a break in the holidays, I decided to open the cover and take a look. And there I was greeted with men of style and class who knew how to wear a Windsor knot and when was the correct occasion to wear a perf toe balmoral. It is a shame to admit it, but at first my manliness genes kicked in and my first reaction was, "How gay is this?". With pictures of guys like Cary Grant, the Duke of Windsor and Jimmy Stewart, I thought, yeah, yeah, that was fine back in 1943, but in ... full review

"Solid but dated advice" - by MRK (Boston, MA, USA)
This is a great book to learn and understand the basics of men's fashion. Some of the comments are a bit dated, and clearly lean towards ideas more prevalent in Europe than in the states. But as a primer on the basics of what is what, and when to wear it...this is a solid reference for your book shelf.

"So much more than "how to dress"" - by Michael Strout
So worthy of reading precisely because it isn't a mere style guide! Less a catalogue of what to wear and how to wear it than (1) a near anthropological study of some of today's greatest style icons and how they developed their styles over their lifetimes, (2) the author's answers to some key questions as the reader builds his wardrobe - "what's the right occasion for a blazer over a suit" or "is there a better suited hat for a certain occasion" (turns out the answer is often along the lines of "do it on your own terms") and (3) the importance of understanding your "style" is built in always knowing the best local dive bar, caring much more about a garment than it's color, and finding those few intangible things you can call all your own. You'll finish the book with the important base of knowledge and inspiration to ... full review

"Great if you're heading to London and want to shop at the cool places." - by addison de witt
If you're seriously into fashion and headed to London, this terrific little book could be your guide. Good photos and a through, but slightly smug, fashionista text which comes with the territory - this is a seriously good book. Some of the clothes are so ridiculous that a sane person wouldn't be seen dead in them - but that's part of the fun. Unfortunately some of the best clothes, ie the most wearable, get the snippier comments. My pick? 'Kilgour' hands down. Great clothes that make men look great, not foolish.
