This review is one on two different grills: YOU may be looking at a Traeger unit as well as this one so PLEASE read on. I give details about both this grill and the TERRIBLE service and experience with Traeger. It's worth the read and if you have questions please reply and ask. i'll be happy to try and answer. I get email on my phone and answer fairly quickly.

--------------------- Traeger and Camp Chef review as posted elsewhere ---------------------------------

Traeger may be the first pellet grill butit's an outdated design that makes this unit an also ran. I bought one only to find that it does not hold temps well. In fact, they claim "set it and forget it" but that is FAR from the truth. My unit would run for an hour or two then go nuts and drive the temp to 350 or much higher. I burned everything I ... full review

"everything looks perfect, the pellets came with the grill added a ..." - by Amazon Customer
Thumbs up! The first grill arrived at my door step with some handling damage, I called the customer service, they immediately shipped another unit to me even before I return the old unit. I highly appreciate the way they honor their warranty and solved my problem in no time. Now I have my new grill assembled, everything looks perfect, the pellets came with the grill added a natural oak aroma to the meat, I literally put everything I can find into the smoker and grill religiously every weekend for my family.

"Really inexpensive to operate" - by Paul Jacobson (Garland, TX, US)
Holds temperature really well. Very inexpensive to operate. Pellets cost about $1 to $1.33 per pound and I smoked a 12 pound brisket with less than 3 pounds of pellets. I smoked it for 11 hours at 160 and 3 hours at 225 to an internal temperature of 200. It takes about $20 worth of wood in my traditional wood smoker to do that. I bought 100 pounds of pellets thinking it would use them fairly quickly, but I've smoked salmon, ribs, chicken - twice, ground beef for chili, and a 12 pound brisket and I have not even used 40 pounds.

The mobile app is amazing. Not only can you control your grill from anywhere, but it also allows you to create profiles with steps and instructions so you can refine and improve your smoke.

"Awesome Grill" - by Amy Deal
I have had zero issues with the grill. Already cooked on it 7 times and everything (steaks, ribs, hamburger, chicken and pizza) turned out extremely good. The temps are right where you set them and very efficient on pellet use. I'm very impressed with the workmanship, quality and functionality of this unit!!!!!

Usually ships within 1 to 2 months.

"Natural Oak flavor" - by Bargain Hunter#1 (Lubbock, TX)
This is a great grill. Used it to smoke a brisket and grill filet mignons. None of the charcoal and lighter fluid taste you get from past grilling methods. Just a natural and earthy flavor from smoke using oak wood. This is the way it should always be done!

"Good quality grill" - by DAVID MILES
Good quality grill, and very easy to put together. Arrived without damage.
I does NOT have a port to remove pellets from the hopper, I like to use different
pellets for what ever Im cooking, so this the only problem I have with the grill, other
wise this grill would be a 5 star. The grill does a great job, have used it for steaks, chops, brisket
ribs, meat loaf, a lot of veggies and my family loved it all.

"GREAT SMOKER / 6 MONTH UPDATE / 1 1/2 YEAR UPDATE / 3 1/2 year's and still works great. still working after 4 1/2 years" - by JG (Highflyer) (South West, Minnesota)
F.Y.I A LOT OF THE BAD REVIEWS ARE ON THE OLDER MODEL SMOKER. THIS IS THE NEWER MODEL AND YOU CAN BUY AND REPLACE THE HEATING ELEMENT IF IT EVER BURNT OUT.

this masterbuilt smoker works great for me even when using a extension cord. but if using one it be must be able to handle the power the smoker requires. I used a regular outdoor cord and it took my smoker forever to heat up. I ended up buying a (Yellow Jacket 2883 12/3 Heavy-Duty 15-Amp SJTW Contractor Extension Cord with Lighted Ends,25-Feet) bought on amazon and smoker heated up quick & worked it the way it was meant to work. this smoker is very easy to use and puts out good smoke although it does not put out smoke with temps under 200F not sure if that's because I use wet chips I haven't tried using dry chips ... full review

"Beware that this model is now discontinued" - by Eric David Greenspan
I bought this directly from Traeger. Beware that this model is now discontinued. They replaced it with the Traeger Renegade Pro without notice. The new model has an updated saw horse design and a new digital controller with probes. It does not come with the handy spice rack however. To each their own but I'd check with Traeger prior to purchase. That said, I paid more from them so if this is discounted, grab it. I love mine!

"I like the smoker but have a couple issues" - by ShannonA
I like the smoker but have a couple issues. The ash removal system won't open without hitting it with a hammer, after every cook. Also, there's more ash inside the smoker than inside the ash cup. I have to vacuum the smoker just like the smokers that don't have the ash removal system that is supposed to make the camp chef pro standout. I'm very disappointed about the ash accumulation inside the smoker.

"I really like the ability to "set and forget" on long cooks ..." - by Ronald Brewer
My wife decided to get me a new grill for my birthday, since our old gas grill finally died after about 10 years. I did some research and was considering both pellet grills and kamado style grills. After talking to my brother-in-law, who has both, I decided I would get a pellet grill for smoking, and a Weber-style charcoal grill for grilling. I really like the ability to "set and forget" on long cooks that a pellet grill provides. I did a lot of research on different pellet grills, and really felt like this product provided the best value for the money. There are other grills that provide more bells and whistles, but I didn't consider those worth the extra money for the amount of smoking I do.

When I ordered the grill, it was expected to take up to 2 weeks to arrive, so I was pleasantly ... full review

"came packed in a very organized manner and the instructions were extremely easy to follow" - by Heatherna
I just got this smoker yesterday and have yet to fire it up, but wanted to leave my initial impressions.

Material seems to be top quality. In total it weighed 75 lbs. came packed in a very organized manner and the instructions were extremely easy to follow, although I recommend you have someone to assist, not because it’s hard, but holding the burner and doors on while you get you screws started will make things easier. Still not difficult by yourself but easier. They do include a tray for extra water, which some reviews mentioned the water reservoir was small. Chip bowl is pretty small but I think will be fine as it is easy to add more. I’ll be cooking with it this weekend and will add additional info then.

UPDATE: Okay I have now cooked a couple of times and here is what I ... full review

"Masterbuilt Electric Smoker tip..." - by JC
Update 8/15/17
Be careful when starting the pellets on fire. I was a little too careless this last weekend and caught the whole thing on fire. Man, the black smoke it produced and the temp jump up to 300f was not fun, but using silicone gloves, I took it out and sprayed it down with a hose to kill it. So be careful for how much smoke you really want :)

Update 8/11/17
So after removing the wood chip delivery tube and keeping the vent wide open on my Masterbuilt electric smoker, I was getting tons of smoke from the Amazen Pellet Smoker. I had lit both sides of it, but didn't need too, but may do so next time cause I love the smoke! Completely full and burning from both sides, it took about 6 hours to burn itself empty. I loaded it again and only started one side the next time, ... full review

"Great smokey flavor" - by Carl Higgins (Virginia)
Great smokey flavor. Works great with our Traeger. Our 'head chef' doesn't believe there's a huge difference in flavor between the different versions of pellets but, that being said, he does prefer the Apple for most Traeger cooking.
