"Excellent book on the presidents" - By Billie (Brevard, NC, USA)
I love this book. I am a 38 year old female who loves American history. It goes beyond the basic facts on the presidents. The only things that I don't like: 1) There are quite a bit of spelling and grammar errors. I overlook them because I love the book so. 2) I think the authors could have done a better job on the chapter about President elect Donald Trump. There should have been a section devoted to First Lady to be Melania Trump, as each of the other First Ladies had sections on them. Otherwise, a great book. Tv informative.

"FRIENDLY FOES - POWER AFTER THE PRESIDENCY" - By V. L. Wilson (Devon, Pennsylvania USA)
Absorbing, detailed and factual - this interesting book describes how ex-presidents co-operate with one another and, for the good of the country, will neither offend nor criticize an incumbent.

Although I chose to read the book on my Kindle Fire, I recommend a hardcover version to share with others. Having lived thru decades of presidents, I knew quite a bit of the more recent acts of friendship and cooperation between Carter/Ford, Clinton/Bush, Eisenhower/Truman, etc. but there were some surprises! I especially enjoyed the chapter on Herbert Hoover and am sending for his biography - a great man whose gifts to the nation have gone largely unnoticed.

If you enjoy reading about the American presidents and especially what they accomplish after their stint in the White House ends, then you may agree with me, this is one of the better books published on the subject - ... full review

"Reminds me in many ways of Mark Twain's writings" - By Luke Blanchford
I was reminded of Mark Twain's writing about childhood, in the tone alternately humorous and wise. And in telling these amusing stories of the presidents to children, as well as the children in adults, Mr. Stabler recovers for us a common political heritage.

"Amazing book filled with very interesting information!" - By Jane
One of the items in my bucket list is to read the biographies of all the presidents. This is the seventh one. I am so glad that I chose to read it. The book is filled with historical facts. I was truly surprised at all the political backstabbing that occurred during this time. At every turn, John Quincy was blocked because of the personal ideologies of others. Henry Clay and Andrew Jackson being the strongest. It sounds like modern day politics doesn't it?

"An entertaining read" - By Frank Healy, HSAM
The Presidents of the United States was an entertaining read with facts about the presidents that you do not find in the history books. It showed that even presidents and their family members have quirks that make them unique and interesting people.

"Good for law office" - By JHelffrich (State College, PA USA)
I have this book in my law firm. I practice in family law, and occasionally clients bring their children. This givesa the kids something to do while the adults are talking, and the content makes it appropriate for a law office.

    "Fun read" - By JSM
Fascinating stuff that gets left out of history books :( I wouldn’t probably paid more attention in school if the teachers would have made it fun to learn… this is a fun read.

"The Changing of Ideas" - By Rick Mayo (Jacksonville, AR)
It is amazing to see the "progress" of our country through the speeches given by our Presidents. From the sacrificial requests of Washington and Adams to the preservation of our Union with Lincoln to the progressive, socialistic dreams of Theodore and Franklin Roosevelt to the exceptionalism of Reagan, our country has had a diverse and unique leadership. It calls us to question where we are headed, and how will we get there. And what liberities will we surrender to follow the dreams of our elected official? To see the nationalistic leader become imperialistic in the speeches cause concern as well. Gives pause to wish for leaders like washington, Adams, Jefferson and Lincoln, as well as jackson again.
