"The default guide to managing products" - By Josh Duncan (Chicago, IL United States)
For individuals in a product role (or looking to move into a product role), I highly recommend Dan's new book and would go as far to say that it is required product manager reading.

Not focused on ‘lean’? Don't skip over this one. The book provides a comprehensive guide for all the various stages of managing a product that can be applied to any software related development philosophy. Dan does a great job of weaving together the theory of managing products along with real world examples so you can see how they may be applies in your situation.

My favorite section was on the topic of prioritization. Understanding how to prioritize features and new product opportunities is one of the core requirements of being a product manager. Dan's approach of comparing current satisfaction level against value is a great approach and when coupled with implementation time, is a ... full review

"Excellent roadmap to product development" - By Elizabeth M Anderson
Andrea puts together a comprehensive roadmap to understanding and implementing product development best practices in her book, "The McGraw-Hill 36-Hour Course on Product Development". She provides several examples and case studies to illustrate her points. I recommend this book for any Product Development Manager and for all executives to fully understand how to get ahead of the curve in terms of product development.

"Enjoying the Kindle Experience" - By Jan (Asia)
I purchased the kindle version even though many reviewers have warned against that. I work in China and did not want to deal with the hassle of waiting for delivery and customs of the physical book. I used the kindle app for PC laptop to read the book and access the link to the strategyzer website. The purchase verification process on their website was easy. All the visuals can be downloaded as PDF posters from the website. So I have found that all the problems mentioned in previous kindle reviews have been dealt with in a reasonable manner. (Don't know why format says paperback - definitely purchased Kindle)

"Innovation and Time to Market is Possible" - By Teresa K.
Innovate Products Faster is a unique offering in new product development (NPD) literature. Organized around a set of tools that are visual and easy to use, Carter and Bradford throw ice water on the fiery dichotomy of innovation and time-to-market.

In the first section, Carter and Bradford introduce a slim NPD process that is largely directed by the innovation teams themselves. "Check-ins," rather than process and project reviews are advocated (pg. 3) in order to set up teams for success in innovation and speed to market. While many organizations will hesitate to hand over such decision-making authority to the NPD project team, autonomous use of these tools by the team members will most certainly build credibility with senior management.

In the final section of Innovate Products Faster, Process, the authors describe methodologies to support the previous four sections: Strategy, Management, Execution, and Organization. ... full review

"Practical Guide" - By Bob F, measurement guy
"Flow" digests the theory in "Managing the Design Factory (MtDF)" into a set of principles. I would suggest you read "Managing the Design Factory" first so you get a solid foundation for the principles. "Flow" is handy because it can be used as a quick reference. IF you have a question of how or why to apply a principle then you should dig back into the first book.

In my review of MtDF I observe that this earlier book covers a bit of queuing theory. The newer book leaves out nearly all of the theory. Still the summary of the principles is valuable. I'm happy I bought the book.

"Great book just not on KINDLE!" - By Mr. T. C. Jones (Cambridge UK)
The book content is great and the process methods and practice are well defined for any UX professional to pick up and be effective with out of the box. Four stars because the Kindle version is dreadful, don't buy it terrible image formatting of tiny indistinguishable blobs. The Kindle typography is also borderline. Buy paper you will thank me.

"Product Marketing Professionals - BUY THIS BOOK!" - By Steven Linsk (Portland, OR USA)
The PDMA Handbook is one of those rare and valuable books that characterizes a "body of knowledge" for a professional discipline. It was produced by the preeminent industry organization for New Product Development (NPD) professionals, the PDMA .... This text describes current, best practices in NPD and includes contributions from knowledge leaders in academia, consulting, and industry practice. If you are a CEO, COO, CTO, Marketing Manager, Product Manager, Product Planner, Engineering Manager, Project Manager, Program Manager, or any other professional involved in new product development (especially for technically complex products like hardware and software) you really need this book.
Product Managers (should) perform the nitty, gritty, roll-your-sleeves-up: opportunity analysis, business case formulation, and requirements management for new products. Research shows that judicious performance of this critical pre-work is a key determinant in the ultimate market success of new products and is usually performed inadequately. Unfortunately, most professionals in such ... full review

"Product Management Bible*" - By xanderman
Wow, talk about a bible for product management. As a disclaimer, I am not a product manager (yet). However, this book essentially outlines what product management is, what it isn't and how a product manger can be successful. This book was recommended to me by an experienced product manager when I expressed to him that I was interested in the field.

*Of course, like the actual bible, it should not be followed verbatim but rather be used as a compass

"A great read on it's own, even better with the other Lean titles" - By Amazon Customer (Pasadena, CA USA)
Full disclosure, I have Lean Analytics and UX for Lean Start-ups. I love those 2 books. My analytics side wished there was a title to help with one of the biggest challenges, defining the customer. Low and Behold, Lean Customer Development comes out.
I have already read the book in the first 10 days and am now starting to read it again. Making notes, and planning my projects.
If you are looking for, probably one of the best titles on defining your customer, and step-by-step methods to do it, pick up this book.
    Pro’s
    - The author talks about interviewing, how to do it, some questions to get you started and walks you through it.
    - The descriptions offer you a way to tell if what you are planning to do really does make sense. If it does, great, if it doesn't, what you can do to address this and ... full review

Very interesting and informative. I'm only partially into the book at this time. I did take the MIT class from Ed Crawley and have found many new insights.
