I did a lot of research before finally settling on this book. It's thoroughly researched and well put together. The author makes complicated concepts easy to understand. He also touches on advanced tactics so experienced readers will walk away with at least a handful of new tactics. The author does this while making it fun, it feels like you have a good friend explaining the whole process.
This is a powerful resource not just on SEO but for growing a business. It covers all the essential information on SEO, also covers local marketing and even pay-per-click campaigns. Some areas are covered, but looks like this was on purpose, everything is easy to understand and it doesn't make you fall asleep like reading an encyclopedia.

As a newby to the world of SEO, the SEO Fitness Workbook: 2017 Edition was a very good place to start to learn what search engine optimization is all about. This book breaks it down to you in terms that make it very easy, and quite entertaining, to read. I read the book all of the way through within 3 days of receiving from Amazon. This gave me a general idea of what SEO is all about...what I really enjoyed was going back through the workbook a second time and using/watching all of the resources that the author provides. This gave me actual "training" and has taught me enough to begin building my own websites with a sense of direction on getting ranked. Let me first say; I have been in the SEO game for a long time. I am definitely not a beginner, but I always still have more to learn. I continually read and learn about SEO from many different blogs and books on a daily basis, and have done so for many years. If I can pick up some new info from any book or blog post, it is worth it just for that nugget of wisdom to add to my SEO skill set.
Overall, I would say that this was an excellent book on SEO. It is long, but it is full of SEO wisdom; It is a very comprehensive SEO book. Danny was the lead SEO at SEOMoz and made a great video about local search last November. That video compelled me to signup for the pro SEOMoz membership. I am an in-house SEO, and by March 2011 I was ranking #1 in most relevant keywords for my market (seattle painting, house painting) primarily because of the tools, strategies, etc. I learned from Danny and SEOMoz.
Purchasing any book Danny might work on is a no-brainer for me...however I was blown away by what I am learning from the book. I checked out at least 15 books from the library to learn about SEO. Most were either too basic or just seemed to be poorly written and/or by a somewhat shady author. This book, however, was a great combination of writing, humor, knowledge, and practicality. So, I ended up buying it and read it 3 times as I completely remade our company website from scratch. i think this book is a great fit for someone who is beyond the absolute basics (although that's covered here too) but probably isn't planning to be doing SEO every minute of every day as your full-time job. When I saw the title and John's name attached, I knew this book would be good. Too many books are long on theory and short on actionable advice. That is never the case with John Jantsch. I've not interacted with Phil in the past, but I will be in the future. His insights provide insider information from someone "in the trenches". The combination of these two gentlemen is powerful, indeed.
I bought this on a Friday and made the mistake of letting my team greet the UPS man instead of receiving the shipment myself. As a result, it was nearly a week before I finally got my hands on it. They all read it before I got the chance.

I've read a couple of e-books about SEO, and non of them come close to SEO Like I'm 5. It's not that the other SEO books I tried reading were not educational, it's the way they were written. I got bored or overwhelmed easily reading other SEO guides, but this book really spoke to me and got me act. There are a lot of case studies, walk throughs and images, which helped me replicate the SEO strategies mentioned in the book. Thins is a very helpful book about search engine optimisation for anyone who is new to SEO. I have my own blog and I know nothing about SEO. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found it very helpful. It is well written with clear and precise descriptions of what is SEO and how to do it more effectively.
Most books and articles on SEO lose me very quickly due to technical jargon, but this book is different as it is very straightforward and easy to read. Definitely a good book for anyone who wants to brush up on their SEO skills but who doesn't know where to begin!(8)
