"Steve Blank's Books Are Worth Millions, If Not Billions of Dollars!" - By mike onghai
In 2011, I left a hedge fund to start AppAddictive, a social advertising software platform company.
I joined an accelerator to speed up my start-up process. I raised some angel money for my startup.
I was feeling good, but I was having difficulty keeping up with Facebook's rapid changes. Enter
Steve Blank's books "Four Steps to Epiphany" and "Startup Owner's Manual".
These two books saved my startup's life. I was able to pivot our company. A few months later, I used
my hedge fund knowledge to take over a Nasdaq public company called LookSmart. I have made these 2 books
required reading for the entire LookSmart team. I like the culture of LookSmart to be data-driven, lean startup oriented.
No room for ego's. Celebrate failures. Fail fast.

Steve Blank's books are making the revival of LookSmart possible. Now, Steve would you like to ... full review

"Very helpful and easy to read" - By Khalifa Abubakar
As an aspiring entrepreneur I found this book very helpful and informative. It Gives entrepreneurs the tools they need to turn ideas into products and avoid common mistakes. It is clear that the author has years of experience creating startups and he provides the reader with the mindset that entrepreneurs and innovators should have. Eric Ries takes the uncertainty associated with creating a startup and turns it into a science.

I initially feared that this book would read like a business textbook but I was quickly proven wrong. The book is very well written and easy to read. Eric Ries explains everything in plain english so that it is clear and intuitive. Ries does a good job of using real world examples and anecdotes to explain his concepts. Ries has experience consulting for companies like Intuit and IGN and includes lots of valuable insider information that can't ... full review

"Good reference on VC money and confidential information" - By Jim Carson (Bellevue, WA)
Based on the interviews with CEOs, it takes a conservative tone in explaining the inner workings of startups. The most common theme echoed throughout: make damn sure you leave your employer cleanly and do NOT take anything that isn't yours. Great analysis of venture capital and the CEO's role of finding the next round of funding.
This book complements "Engineering Your Startup: A Guide for the High Tech Entrepreneur," by Michael L. Baird, which does a better job outlining suggestions on writing the business plan.

Read in a couple of days. Couldn't stop.. this book focus mainly on the first challenges faced by the founding team before the company was big, and gives a mild overview of the afterwards. Written in an easy to read way, I enjoyed the stories very much. Provides good insights of the creation of a company like Zendesk.

"A fresh approach to entrepreneurship" - By 2readandwrite (Durham, NC United States)
The Startup Equation, like some other entrepreneurship books, teaches the fundamentals required to launch a successful business, like securing funding and marketing effectively. However, this book stands out from the crowd for several reasons. It doesn't just give vague advice, but instead proposes a specific equation for starting and running a business. It includes a periodic table of elements for startups, and tools for determining your "entrepreneurial personality" and for deciding what type of business to create. All of this is explained in great detail in a visual guidebook that's colorful, fun, motivating, and supportive. The authors don't pretend to know it all but rather encourage readers to analyze how all of these elements fit into their own unique entrepreneurial journeys. A great resource for any type of startup.

"I wish I would have had Angela's book from the beginning!" - By D Hébert (Lafayette, LA)
I've been cleaning for a year and a half commercially and about seven months in private homes. Stress caused me to quit my 9 to 5 and I couldn't me more happy and satisfied in my work. I wish I would have had Angela's book from the beginning! I will now implement what I've learned from her here-on-out....Thanks Angela!

"and have culled the best advice from their experiences" - By Art Dana
The 2 authors are steeped in successes and failures of both Silicon Valley startups and large corporations that were once Silicon Valley startups. They have "been there done that", and have culled the best advice from their experiences. Written with clarity and a sense of humor, this is an excellent read for anyone interested in avoiding roadblocks to success.

"31 steps to a successful start up, and achieving financial Independence" - By excellentwheels
This book contains everything a budding entrepreneur will need to know to start their own business. No matter how large or small, this book covers everything from changing the way you think to evaluating the existing skills and talents on which to build a successful business, as well as how to develop and write a business plan, as well as how to properly invest in your business and learn from your competitors mistakes so that you can control as much of a given market demographic as possible.

I personally have no desire whatsoever to be part of corporate America it has been my dream since college. To operate a small business, or at the very least to work as a freelancer. So I could set my own hours and only take the jobs that interest me. The tips in this book are useful even if you intend to work ... full review

"this is an easy read and that is what I like about it" - By Roseanne Holmes
In his dynamic book, Zero to One, Peter Thiel introduces a new ideology, giving principles and keys for the entrepreneur and the startup. He covers so much ground for the business-minded person to take in and uncovers the myths behind such familiar ideas as “If you build it, they will come” and “perfect competition”. Stripping away the idea of the so-called, perfectly competitive market being ideal, the book leans heavily toward the monopolistic view point with Thiel advising entrepreneurs, “if you want to create and capture lasting value, don’t build an undifferentiated commodity business”. Truly going from zero to one means that your company, as the startup, does what it does so well that no other company comes close. This requires creation and not duplication. For the most part, this is an easy read and that is what I like about it. It’s a business book about “startup stuff” but ... full review

"A Complete, and Global, Overview of Equity Crowdfunding." - By Michael Michelini (Shenzhen, China)
I was fortunate enough to have Nathan Rose on one of my podcasts and he broke down the message of equity crowdfunding so clearly - one of my most popular episodes - so it is about time he came out with the book! It helped me to understand in depth the policies and future of crowdfunding internationally. Even though I'm American myself, I am annoyed with the bias of many authors to only address the entire world from the American perspective - Nathan gives us a global outlook of equity crowdfunding not just the typical US centric.

"An Incredibly Useful, Entertaining, and Good Hearted book byMike Moyer" - By Yaakov
As a startup entrepreneur living in Israel, I was poking around the internet for some helpful resources in starting up a business. Primarily, I wanted to study the various model of equity distribution. As a young and idealistic entrepreneur, surrounded by the good graces of many other likeminded and talented professionals, I needed an approach to moving forward with a powerful idea that I truly believed would resonate with a core group of potential partners.

Mikes book was such a breath of fresh relief. This is a book written by an expert. Though in his humility Mike would probably refute that, nonetheless he has time tested experience in forming start up entities. Moreover, he is a sensitive man filled with integrity- at least all signs point to that in reading his book- and truly wanted to write a book that could prevent the host ... full review

"Great content but kindle edition leaves much to be desired" - By Christopher R. Field (Denville, NJ USA)
I bought the kindle edition of this book and I found it to be a terrible reading experience. Quote often it seemed like pieces of sentences were missing and occasionally when going from one page to another I would see the text of two lines superimposed on each other. I don't have a kindle so I used the android kindle app and kindle for the PC and both left much to be desired. Also I hated that if I flipped a few pages ahead that it would reset the location. Overall I would not recommend the e-book edition, the quality is horrendous. Also now that I see the prices, I paid more for the terrible kindle edition than the hardcover edition goes for. Anyway I would never recommend paying more for an e-book than a print book because you have less rights than with ... full review

"A Userful Resource, Packed with Actionable Advice" - By SBird
My favorite things about this book:

    * It's written in a pragmatic and engaging style, without jargon or filler.
    * It includes actionable tips and frameworks for all aspects of managing a company.
    * It has soul. It's not just about increasing wealth. It's about doing that while being mindful of your emotional and mental health. It doesn't leave out the team either. It's written with the full understanding that we're people, not just entrepreneurs.
    * It's got a lot of great contributions from other experienced entrepreneurs, so you don't feel caught up in tunnel vision.
    * It's humble. This is very hard to do when you're writing a book about ways to be a great CEO. Matt has pulled it off. It's written from an earnest and earned perspective. There is no arrogance.

It's proven a great resource so far, and I've recommended it to non-CEOs too.

"Helping In-Experienced Entrepreneurs Get Further Along" - By Jeffrey Wolfe
This is a great book for new or aspiring entrepreneurs. Joe condenses all of his knowledge and experience in the startup world into a book that can be read in one sitting. While the concepts may sound simple (five stages of startup, five roles of startup), it should be read and re-read by entrepreneurs to ensure that they master the basics, and more importantly, not forget or ignore any of the fundamentals. As Joe notes, "[s]tartup just works better when there are experienced people helping in-experienced people get further along." This book will help the in-experienced become the experienced.
