""Original" Slinky? SOMETHING'S different, because it does NOT perform as advertised!" - by Grandma Zizzy (Cincinnati, OH)
Recalling how I was mesmerized by my Slinky "walking" down our stairs as a child in the 1960's, I was really looking forward to introducing my 5 year old grandson to this classic toy. (I purchased a "Slinky Jr." at the retail level, which was a complete waste of money... I promised my grandson I'd purchase a "REAL" Slinky, like Grandma had when she was his age.) Finding the price seemed reasonable on Amazon, I purchased one, just received it this week, and went to give it an initial nostalgic "workout" prior to sharing what I remembered as a wonderful toy with him. Well, it does NOT walk down stairs, and only does the initial "flip" when on the floor! Maybe it was only $5, but I don't believe in throwing money out of the window! What a shame that they - somehow - changed ... full review

Works exactly as stated. Very handy.
Sometimes, however, the tips are a bit hard to pull out.

"Functional little tool -- in a pinch." - by Splatt (Utah)
One thing we seem to like doing is seeing how many tools we can pack into a small area. This tool certainly takes this obsession to a new level. It's small: 1.75" wide, 2 11/16" long, and a little over 1/16" thick (2mm). Yet it packs a whopping 11 functions, which immediately presents two main problems: leverage, and clearance. While the functions work in theory, in practice you might find it difficult to get enough leverage to easily make the tool work. Also, because so many are packed into such a small area, you might not be able to get the tool into the space you want. For example, the shaft of a screwdriver is thin which allows it to get into tight spaces, but to use the screwdriver on this tool you need a clearance radius of 2".

Now, that said, do they work? Here's a rundown of ... full review

"Great candy" - by asdf1999
It makes a great stocking stuffer. The chocolate is pretty tasty. It isn't some super fancy artisan chocolate, but it is good for a stocking stuffer.

"A fun twist on a classic" - by Sarah Belle
I love this game. I work with little kids and sometimes just need an easy game to play while we talk. It's fun, easy, and can be adapted into a few different games. It is worth the money and the kids I work with haven't found it boring yet. The cards in the deck have cute illustrations on them and actually the cards have held up really well. I would buy this again.

"Fun toy" - by Picky Pam
This toy is just as advertised. We bought them for 8 grandchildren on vacation and everyone had fun with them, from age 3 to 10. They really don't tangle. It's best if you can drop from a balcony, at least for the little ones who can't throw them up far enough for the best float. My husband is going to try to figure out a way to shoot them up, like with a potato gun.

"Six full turns of the key and the fun begins" - by P. Yanov (Greenville, SC USA)
This is a fun little toy. My kids aged 5 and 3 love it. Of course, I supervise, but we talked about counting, how the sparks work and practice taking turns. The sparks are a great effect and they like seeing how it looks different in the light and in a darkened room. The gadget feels pretty sturdy, but certainly would not withstand any physical abuse. I was surprised at how actively the kids engaged with it. The big winding key is a nice touch. It makes it easier for small hands to wind. Incidentally, my adult friends liked watching it as well and began immediately speculating how it worked. It's an interesting diversion at a reasonable price.

"LOVE IT!" - by christine from Chicago
I have been looking for a perfect night light for my princess (4 year old). this is the one. My daughter has been scared of dark, and reluctant to go to sleep in her own room. This light provide enough light but not over powering. Also, picture of Sophia the First provides nice cozying feeling to her. She feels at ease. Another good thing is that the light comes with on/off switch, she can turn it on/off as she pleases to. VERY HAPPY with the purchase.

"Works Perfect - Just follow the directions" - by S. Karl (Michigan)
UPDATED(3-28-2011) - SEE UPDATE SECTION AT END:

I tried this magnesium fire starting tool - SE(Emergency Fire Starter - SE - [[ASIN:B0010O748Q Emergency Fire Starter]]) out as well as the alternative from (from Doan Machinery & Equipment - "Genuine Issue Magnesium Survival Fire Starter" [[ASIN:B0002X1IOM Genuine Issue Magnesium Survival Fire Starter]]).

Both tools work perfectly fine as described and were able to light up fine fibers(cotton, moss, dried grass) and paper without a problem. The Doan tool has more precise instructions and clearly states on the packaging to scrape the magnesium portion of the bar with a knife blade PERPENDICULAR to the edge of the tool. I found this to method made for the most shavings and larger shavings at that. The packaging clearly states that you want a QUARTER(U.S. Coin) sized amount (just shy of 1 inch or 2.4cm diameter) Then holding the bar at 45 degree ... full review
