"Not for regular Kindle!" - By Alana
It does say this, but not in the title: This is only for Kindle Fire, iPad, computers, etc.

    Not for regular Kindles.

Otherwise it looks like a great item.

"Great Kindle Version" - By Susan
I don't understand why someone would not consider this a kindle version. This book presents just like the real textbook version with page numbers just like in the book. I found this particularly helpful for my class when the instructor or students would refer to a page I was able to find it. Unlike other kindler version textbooks that have only location numbers that are not related to an actual page number in a book.

I am still able to do searches in the text and go to specific locations/pages just like any other "kindle" version book. I think it's great!

"Updated and still the best introduction for your learning professionals" - By M. Stone (San Antonio, Texas)
For the past 10 years I have given a copy of Training for Dummies to every trainer, developer, and designer that I hired. It was simply the best starting point for a full overview of the ASTD learning model for anyone new to training. But it's also a great refresher for the learning professional with years of experience.

So a decade later, the title is updated to "Training and Development for Dummies". With a title change, I was a little worried that it may not fit my needs any longer. When I got my copy the first thing I noticed was the cover no longer proudly proclaims "Recommended by ASTD" (American Society for Training and Development, which recently changed its name to ATD). Digging into the book calmed all fears. The depth, breadth, and charm of the original is still intact, but the ... full review

"A fresh, practical resource for anyone in the learning profession!" - By Jeanne E Masseth
Wow, this is an incredible resource to start the new year! From the moment I picked up The Art and Science of Training it felt unique. I would call it a “how to” guide for training practitioners. Each chapter is titled based on the most relevant learning and development challenges. For example, How can we best transfer of learning to the workplace? (Chapter 9 outlines fresh advice and great activities to implement before, during, and after training.) What are the best ways to prepare in order to foster a positive learning environment? (Chapter 6 is full of tips, along with a fabulous logistics checklist.) What kinds of information do stakeholders want to truly show training was effective? (Chapter 11 -Why Bother with Assessment and Evaluation - is my favorite. It offers simple, powerful questions to ask based on each evaluation level. It also inspired new ideas ... full review

"If you're serious about learning and development." - By Brian VanderKolk
Definitely one of the best resources on integrating a culture of learning and development within your organization. I have the kindle version, but also wanted a hard copy to work with. I'll be ordering some of the available accompanying helps as well. The 6 D's gives excellent overviews, examples, as well as concrete behaviors for fostering learning and retention.

"Your Training Library is Incomplete Without this Book" - By Elaine Biech
The Kirkpatricks have nailed it! This all new book is steeped in Dr. Don Kirkpatrick's classic Four Level model and updated with the New World Kirkpatrick Model. The Four Levels have stood the test of time to become the most widely used training evaluation model throughout the world. Even so, everything changes. And so has the way the model is used. In this book Jim and Wendy expand the original model to create a powerful methodology--one that melds people with metrics and ensures that you attend to what your organization requires from the evaluation process.
Evaluation is training and development's bottom line. The authors present a tangible, practical, and highly impactful guide to ensure evaluation's payoff. They present you with a solid rationale for evaluating training, data collection and analysis guidelines, and how to avoid common evaluation pitfalls. The case studies ensure that the content takes shape and comes alive ... full review

"Finally, a book that is easy to read, and useful." - By Christine Olson
Finally, a book that is easy to read, helpful, funny, and seems to be transparently honest. The author is from the industry and seems to be speaking the truth even though it may not be good for the business. He gives pointers, guides, and advice on how to save money, ensure program sustainability, and prevent losing control of your simulations/game. If you are new to the world of simulations and games, this is a great place to start. If you are experienced in simulations and games, this will help you with a new perspective on either building a simulations or hiring an outside company. I just wish it would tell me how to build them. But I know this is pretty much impossible due to the complexity. Also, I really like the fact that the author really tries to suggest not going overly complex. He states that simulation complexity is ... full review
