    "Finally!" - By B. Grusnick
As a reader of MANY books on writing and screenwriting, it is nice to get a book that actually delves into the details of a writing process. Whereas other books will tell you to write an outline and a treatment and then a script, Sandler does the same thing but digs deep into each one of those steps, letting you know both the process and giving you detailed examples of what something should look like. A veteran of the business, I would recommend this book for anyone unsure of how to begin the process of writing for television and she will take you through it step by step, including how to pitch a script or idea once you get in the room, information that most authors seem to avoid or skim over.

"Well Written, No-Nonsense" - By Chris (Jackson Heights, NY, United States)
I had my first Pilot script, or at least the outline of it, pretty well under way before buying this book. It occurred to me that, despite having written a number of short films of varying length, and even a feature-length screenplay, I knew nothing about writing for TV - aside from the fact that there are generally more than 3 acts in an hour-long drama.

After reading this book - a quick and easy read - I'm not a whole lot closer to having the format of the teleplay mastered, but I do have a much more concise idea about what it takes to make a worthwhile pilot. It's about ending up with something much more that fifty-some-odd pages. It's about creating something that can sustain dozens and hundreds of such scripts and setting it up properly.

The author's advice is very practical and down-to-earth, with plenty ... full review

"you will find this as a great read with a ton of info about plotting and ..." - By Nic
There are very few books on writing that can keep my attention and I have read them all. However, I was kept engaged throughout the read. If you are a new writer trying to pick-up the basics of what it is to tell story in the correct form and what the companies are looking for at any given time; you will find this as a great read with a ton of info about plotting and developing your next script.

"Well Written but Focuses on Writing a Spec" - By ConstantReaderNYC
I don't totally recommend this book if you are writing an original pilot. But after reading many reviews, it is supposedly one of the best out there. True, if you are putting together a portfolio you will need a spec script, so it's very good for that purpose. I'm still looking for a good book for help with an original pilot. After taking a TV Writing class and reading this book, I am thinking that TV Writing, like all writing, almost really can't be taught! I think the key is to get down the format. I am super grateful this book pointed out the difference between film format and other formats. Overall, I am happy I read it, but I'm still in the dark, though I am going full steam, all the same, on my original pilot. Will buy the Rabin, "Writing a Pilot" ... full review

"Best book on writing for television" - By Jack (Los Angeles)
This is the only book you'll ever need if you want to learn about writing for television. The second best book which I recommend in addition to this one is Writing the Pilot. The content, however, is best absorbed by seasoned writers. If you have never written a screenplay before you need to learn how to do that before thinking about reading this book. I recommend you read Story, Screenplay, Making a Good Script Great, Writing for Emotional Impact and Save the Cat before venturing into TV land.

    "A+++" - By a2z Consumer
Write to TV is #2 on my screenwriting checklist; second only to passion. Cook provides one of the most, thoroughly informative and entertaining resources on screenwriting. Cook provides insight not only for developing spec scripts and pilots but a complete look into the pilot season as well as a day in the life of screenwriters – staff and freelance. The wealth of information is impressive and invaluable. I highly recommend.

"A Great Intro" - By Erin J. Henry (Malibu, California)
This is a great insider's guide to television writing. I really enjoyed the behind the scenes info, but am not feeling prepared by this alone to become a "successful television writer." More education is in order, but this was a great launching platform.

"The Ultimate Guide" - By Jack of all Reads (Midwest, USA)
I've read a lot of books on writing and TV writing, but I have to say, after reading ELEPHANT BUCKS, it clicked. I've written sitcom specs, thinking I understood, but after reading this book, I felt like I needed to rewrite the scripts I'd written.
I wish I'd had this book before I entered the ABC/Disney and WB fellowships.

"Want to Create a TV Show? This Book Will Help You Get Ideas Onto Paper." - By CM Yenrac.
At long last somebody has opened the door to the secret methods Hollywood has long used to create a TV series. With Developing a Series (Save the Writing Volume 1) Wade Pena and Phil Zizza have written a no nonsense tool that will enable both fledging and experienced writers to create a workable TV series bible.

As anyone striving to build a writing career in Hollywood can attest, having a great script is no longer enough to get an agent and impress producers. In today's multi platform, multi media world a writer needs several spec scripts of existing shows AND an original series concept with a finished pilot script. This book is a great starting point for creating and developing the series bible needed to accomplish this most Herculean of tasks.

This book is a great leaping off point and is stacked with real world examples. You'll ... full review

Bill's clear writing style and timeless sage wisdom make a compelling read for writers of any kind. Bill is the kind of coach who can inspire people to live up to their potential and express their unique voice in the finished product. Two of his concepts, the IOU analysis and 'Pick 3' could be applied to almost any creative activity to keep projects on track and improve the odds that you will actually deliver on the task. I highly recommend this book.
