"I loved XP and put Win 8 on my laptop" - by Amazon Customer
I loved XP and put Win 8 on my laptop. I absolutely hate 8. When I upgraded my desktop I tried 7 and I love it. I have had some trouble with the network drivers and if you are not well versed in operating systems you may want to have a professional install this.

"Upgrade from Windows XP Successful !" - by Keith LaBorde (Marietta, GA)
I have been running XP on a Dell XPS since 2009. I really didn't want to upgrade, but due to the last update from Microsoft this month and the fact Support for XP was dropping on April 2014, I figured it was time for me to make the move.
I was a little upset when I found out that you could not Upgrade XP with Windows 7 directly. It requires some careful planning and re-installation of your Programs. Happy to say, I accomplished this in about 3 hours, the Upgrade to Windows 7 was Successful. I have a few updated Windows 7 Drivers I need to install, but I am basically done. Use the Windows Easy Transfer Program to a USB Drive, this is a must... Good Luck with your Install !

"Fast delivery,w/ clear instructions, thanks." - by Barb
Received the product earlier than anticipated. The enclosed instructions were very clear and a link was provided that had a step by step procedure with visuals, as to what to expect when installing the os. I used my tablet to guide me as to what to expect next as I installed the os on my laptop.
Just a couple of notes: When given a choice as to which partition to install, one was highlighted and if I clicked on the other partitions, they did not give me an option to delete or install. So that made it an easier decision. Also, as the bar at the bottom progressed in the installation process, it stalled around 85 or 90 percent. I was getting nervous but after quite a few minutes it progressed to the next step. Success! After a couple of days I was prompted to activate the ... full review

"Clean install; saves time with network drivers included. Buy it!" - by hallll (Syracuse, NY)
Perfect! I won an old laptop from a company lottery. The catch was that the hard drive had been completely wiped. However, this disc got me up and running in no time. Just remember to set your BIOS to 'boot from disc' first. The disc installed Windows 7 Professional 64 bit (all Win7 versions are included, 32 & 64 bit - you pick) easily and quickly. this disc does not include a product key; you must provide your own key. In my case, the Windows 7 product key was located under the battery. After Windows installed, I opened the disc again, and installed the network drivers from the app on the disc (I forgot the file name, but it's the dark colored icon). That was easy too. Once I got online, I had 192 updates to download! That took a bit of time. Yeah, I would definitely recommend ... full review

"I'd have been well and truly screwed without this. ..." - by Dave Whitford
I'd have been well and truly screwed without this. FACTORY Microsoft windows 7 disks wouldn't install, right out of the box. Loaded this up, and the install went flawlessly.

"Worked perfect for vista to Windows 7 upgrade." - by Jim P
This software does have the option to just do an upgrade to a present, earlier version of Windows. To do that though, it must be an appropriate upgrade. For example, I did a Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade, no issues. It did do 181 updates once installed and the whole process was a couple hours. All works great, much faster on program loads. One thing I did notice, there were half a dozen or so new non-microsoft programs installed along with it (reg cleaner, performance boosters etc.) that clearly were crap. I went through control panel and un-installed all non-microsoft apps that were installed at the same time. All is good.
