"Good book on cooking with yogurt, little on making yogurt" - By B Miller (Lander, Wyoming, USA)
This book is an excellent resource for anyone interested in the history and use of yogurt. It is not, however a book on making yogurt. There is a small section on making yogurt and, considering the number of pages, it is well written. If you want to get deep into yogurt making this is not the book.

"A Glorious Book!" - By Gale Hammond
As a curious home cook, I first ventured into yogurt decades ago, even purchasing a small appliance to make yogurt at home. As yogurt receded into the background of popular cooking culture, my little machine eventually found its way to the donation bin. Happily yogurt - REAL yogurt - is back, as presented by the extremely competent Cheryl Sternman Rule in her yummy new book released last spring.

"Yogurt Culture" is a delightful blend of Cheryl's personal experiences and journey toward yogurt expertise, and she has invited us along for the ride.

Cheryl's attitude is that one can pick up a perfectly fine yogurt at the supermarket, and it'll work well in her recipes, even offering guidance in how to select the best brands like avoiding those packed with unnecessary sweeteners. Of course if there's time and the desire, Cheryl steers you through the steps of making your ... full review

"Make your own butter and buttermilk?!" - By Tabitha
I was skeptical at first - until I saw a pin on pinterest about this book. I took the plunge and I've got to say I have yet to be disappointed in any of the recipes here. For the sake of twenty or thirty minutes I get butter AND buttermilk at a fraction of the cost without any extras chemicals or processing. Fantastic! I highly recommend the book.

"Make some yogurt." - By Frank Underwood
I do eat yogurt, but never tried to make anything related to it at home. There are several types of yogurts available at the market, but who knows what chemicals they have added to make it last longer. It would be better to avoid that and make some oragnic dishes at home with our own hands.

"much more than yogurt" - By Christopher Pye
I happened upon this cookbook at a local bookstore, thinking it might help with ways to introduce more natural sources of calcium in our diet, as other forms of supplementation are not effective. What a terrific surprise this has been. I am converted to making my own delicious yogurt, which is so easy to do. (And avoids purchasing multiple plastic containers). What's more, the book has an amazing and inspiring food aesthetic which ranges across a hugely varied selection of recipes, many truly exotic, all authentic. Even aside from the focus on yogurt, the book is a fascinating introduction to the cuisine of Armenia, Turkey and the Caucuses generally. Perfect too for the summer, with some wonderful, surprising salads and vegetable dishes (amazing eggplant recipes, for instance). We are particularly in love with the Iranian eggplant casserole which includes lamb, walnuts, yellow split peas, and ... full review

"Lovely book with healthy recipes" - By MarjoV
This is a simple yet delightful cookbook featuring the popular food: yogurt! Contained within this book are many recipes using this healthy and tasty product. Try roasted tomato bruschetta with yogurt cheese, or meatballs in a warm yogurt sauce or perhaps golden yogurt cake! The recipes range from sauces to dips to desserts!
I am an experienced cook and could live on yogurt and I personally was pleased with this book which I received from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Recipes come from Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, India and more.
Also includes basic instructions on how to make your own yogurt- an easy and essential part of life in my opinion!
As always with this company's cookbooks, this yogurt cookbook is also filled with pleasing photography of the meals.

"100 Frozen Yogurts, Oh My!" - By O. Barnack (Northern California)
The author notes in the introduction that frozen yogurt originated in India, it is a lower fat alternative to softserve ice cream, his recipes are based on popular flavors selling in stores and some unique recipes that have worked well, and that homemade yogurts are generally better than store-bought. Makes sense. I like ice cream very much, but, like many people, have to limit my consumption. Frozen yogurt is quite satisfactory as an alternative for those who have to watch their calories and fats. This book offers 100 recipes for making tasty stuff at home. I confess I did not try all the recipes. They appear quite reasonable, imaginative, and are probably delicious. (Complain to the author if dissatisfied.)
All the recipes are presented with a description, number of servings, preparation time, list of ingredients, and step-by-step directions. My only complaint is that the table of contents lists them in ... full review

"Excellent Family-Oriented Cookbook" - By Talvi
The Greek Yogurt Kitchen was quite a surprise: this isn't a book taking one ingredient and overstating its usefulness and definitely isn't about Greek food. Rather, what we have is a staple ingredient that can be used in many different ways in order to create healthier and often better tasting food. The emphasis of the book is on quick and easy preparation of common staples - foods you and your children will want to eat.

The book breaks down as follows: 1) Greek Yogurt, a superstar food. 2) Breakfast. 3) Snacks and appetizers. 4) Salads, soups, sandwiches. 5) Main dishes. 6) Side dishes. 7) Desserts. Then notes, a metric conversion chart, and index.

The recipes were, as promised, very easy to follow. Often, they were about taking one very fatty or poor health ingredient such as cheese or milk, and substituting a lot of it with the yogurt. ... full review

"A must for serious home cheese making!" - By Hazelnut
I've read a number of books on cheesemaking at home, and this is the one I've chosen to actually purchase out of many. It's easy to understand, and offers, not only recipes for making the cheeses but ways to use the finished product. She gives info on each type (like yield per gallon of milk, and what you can do with the leftover whey - don't throw it out!) to decide whether you want to go to the trouble of making it. She goes even further, with how-tos for fermenting kefir, making flavored butters, troubleshooting when something doesn't go the way you expected. The book is very comprehensive and offers a glossary, sources for supplies and materials, how to make your own cultures, and an excellent index.

Many books on cheesemaking are actually written for commercial cheesemakers. This one is specifically for the home cheesemaker. ... full review
