Shipping Policies

At Hometown Evolution we understand it is important that you receive your order in a timely fashion. We are shipping from West Chester, PA (about an hour west of Philadelphia). All standard shipping orders are shipped within 1 business day via Priority Mail or Fed Ex Ground. In general small orders are shipped by Priority Mail (2-3 days delivery), and large orders are shipped by Fed Ex Ground (1-5 days delivery). 

If you need your items quickly we do offer express shipping options. There is a drop down menu at checkout where you can select your desired shipping method. Once selected, the shipping rate will adjust to reflect the option selected. We offer:

Expedited- 3 business day Fedex Express Saver delivery service

Second Day – 2 business day Fedex Express delivery service

Overnight – Please call us at 484-887-0403 for overnight pricing. 

Express orders received before 2pm EST will be shipped out same day. Orders using ground shipping that are purchased Monday-Thursday will be shipped out next business day. Friday and Saturday orders will ship out on Monday, and Sunday orders ship out on Monday or Tuesday.

String Lights:

1. What is the difference between G30, G40, and G50 light bulbs?

The size and wattage differentiate the bulbs.
G30: 1.2” diameter; 5 Watts per bulb
G40: 1.6” diameter; 5 Watts per bulb 
G50: 2.0” diameter; 7 Watts per bulb 

2. Can your string lights be left outside?

Yes. The string lights are designed for indoor and outdoor use and can be left outside year round. The cords are water resistant and can survive rain and inclement weather. (Please note although they are water resistant the cords are not designed to be submerged and are not intended for underwater use.) 

3. Do the cords have end to end connections?

The 25 and 50 foot cords do have end to end connectors, however the 100 foot cords do not. 

4. How many sets of lights can I connect together?

The total string light length plugged into a single socket is limited by the wattage rating of the wire. Our standard C7 and C9 cords are rated for 959 total watts and 8 amps. Using 7 watt bulbs you are limited to 125 feet on a single plug, while 5 watt bulbs would reach 175 feet on a single plug. If the cords connected together go over the 959 watt limit they risk blowing the fuse.

The 0.4 and 0.6 watt LED bulbs will allow much longer cord lengths on a single plug, 2,397 feet and 1,598 feet respectively. If the cords connected together go over the 959 watt limit they risk blowing the fuse.

5. How far apart are the sockets spaced?

On our standard C7 and C9 base cords, sockets are spaced every foot. A 25 foot cord has 25 sockets. A 50 foot cord has 50 sockets. A 100 foot cord has 100 sockets. Commercial cords have different spacing, please see item detail page.

6. What gauge wire are the cords?

Our standard C7 and C9 base cords are 18 gauge wire. The cords are rated for up to 959 watts.
Our C9 commercial cords are 16 gauge wire rated for up to 1320 watts.
Our E26 commercial cords are 14 gauge wire rated for up to 2160 watts

7. What quantity do the light bulbs come in?

The light bulbs come in boxes of 25.

8. What options do I have for cord lengths?

Our standard C7 and C9 base cords come in 25, 50, and 100 foot lengths.
We also sell commercial cords available in 24, 25, 50, and 100 foot lengths.

9. What happens if I blow a fuse and/or the whole cord goes out at once? 
We include a spare fuse in each cord so that you can change it if one blows. Inside the plug of your cord there is a small compartment that slides open. There are two fuses inside. The loose one is the spare. If a fuse is bad it will be a brownish color instead of being clear. Unplug the cord, switch out and replace the bad fuse, then plug your lights back in.

10. Do you have heavy duty / permanent cord options?

Yes. For permanent applications or heavy duty cords you can select from our C9 Commercial Grade cords or E26 Commercial Grade cords. 

C9 Commercial Cords
16 gauge wire (11 amps); rated for 1,320 watts

Available in 25', 50', and 100' lengths

Sockets are spaced every 15 inches (24’ = 20 sockets; 50’ = 40 sockets; 100’ = 80 sockets)

You can string up to 234 ft. of C9 commercial cords together 

If the cords connected together go over the 1,320 watt limit they risk blowing the fuse.

25 and 50 foot lengths have end to end connectors. 100 foot lengths do not have end to end connectors but do have a plug.

E26 Commercial Cords
 
14 gauge wire (18 amps); rated for 2,160 watts; cords use our S14 or A15 light bulbs

Available in 24', 50', and 100' lengths

Sockets are spaced every two (2) feet (24’ = 12 sockets; 50’ = 25 sockets; 100’ = 50 sockets)

You can string up to 392 ft. together when using our S14 bulbs; you can string up to 288 ft. together when using our A15 bulbs

24 and 50 foot lengths have end to end connectors. 100 foot lengths do not have end to end connectors but do have a plug.

11. How will my order arrive?

We are shipping from West Chester, PA (about an hour west of Philadelphia). For standard shipping we use Fed Ex Ground and USPS Priority Mail depending on the item weight and delivery location. 

12. What is the handling time for my order?

Express orders received before 2pm EST will be shipped out same day.

14. What if I no longer want my order?

No problem. You can send back your order in its original condition within 10 days of purchase. The shipping cost is only covered if the return is initiated because of an error on our part.

15. What if I need to exchange something I ordered?

We want you to be 100% happy with your purchase, so we are flexible if you decide to change cord color, bulb color, or bulb size. First contact us to get an exchange authorization. Then simply send the item you wish to exchange along with the printed exchange authorization. You may include a print out outlining the item you wish to replace your exchange with, or include a note explaining the same.
