Log Information

When You visit Asurion’s sites we automatically collect and store certain information in our server logs. This type of information includes details of how You interacted with our Sites, Services, or applications. It may include information such as: IP address, Unique Device Identifier, or CallerID / ANI (Automatic Number Identification) information, content of web pages, transaction with APIs (Application Program Interface), transactions with IVR (Interactive Voice Response) systems, activity and content of visitor interaction with call center representatives; application usage activity, hardware information, hardware and system settings, browser type, browser language, the date and time of Your request, referral URL, etc.


A cookie is a small, data file that is managed by Your web browser or other application and stored on Your local system. Asurion uses session and persistent cookies to, among other things, identify Your computer during a particular interaction and analyze Your behavior during a particular visit. Most web browsers provide You with the ability to accept or decline cookies, as well as to be warned each time a cookie is being sent. If You choose to decline cookies, You may not be able to fully use Asurion’s Sites, Services, or applications.

Pixel Tags

Pixel tags, also known as web beacons, help Asurion better manage user experience and content tracking. Pixel tags are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, which provide a similar function to cookies and are used to track user interaction with content provided by Asurion or an affiliate organization. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on a user's computer hard drive, pixel tags are embedded invisibly within content. The small size and transparency of pixel tags are not intended to deceive content recipients, but minimize distraction.

Third Party Data Sources

Asurion may leverage external data sources in order to provide context and background on the users of its Sites, Services, or applications in order to improve customer experience, mitigate fraud or malicious activity, or comply with internal company and external regulatory requirements.

Do Not Track and Third Party Advertising Cookies

Do-Not-Track is a public-private initiative, //, that has developed a technical “flag” or signal that an end-user may be able to activate within their browser software to notify websites that they do not wish to be “tracked” by third parties as defined by the initiative. The initiative, however, has not reached a consensus as to exactly what technical or other actions those parties receiving the signal should take. As a result, Do-Not-Track has not yet been standardized and most websites, including Asurion Sites, do not alter their behavior or change their services when they receive a “do-not-track” flag or signal. You can, however, make decisions about Your privacy and the advertisements You receive. Asurion may utilize online behavioral advertising on the Sites in the future. Some of the ads You receive on Sites are customized based on predictions about Your interests generated from Your visits to different Sites. This type of ad customization is sometimes called “online behavioral” or “interest-based” advertising. The Digital Advertising Alliance (“DAA”) provides a “Consumer Optout” for certain companies that have agreed to provide that functionality through the DAA.As an alternative to the DAA opt-out, You can also elect to block all cookies from first parties (such as Asurion) and from third parties (such as entities involved in advertising) by using the cookie blocking options built into Your browser software. In addition to any of the previously mentioned uses of personal information, Asurion may use Your information collected on the Sites for such purposes as:

helping to establish and verify Your identity;

To complete Your purchase.

If You choose to make a purchase of one of our Products or on or through our Services, we may ask You for Your credit card number, billing address, and other information in connection with completing such purchase, and we may use such information to fulfill Your purchase. We may also provide such information, or other personal information provided by You, to unaffiliated third-parties to complete Your purchase (for example, to process Your credit card). These third-parties are contractually bound to use the information provided only for the purposes specified by Asurion.

To comply with law, or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to conform to the requirements of law, or comply with legal process served on us, and to protect and defend our rights or property, including our rights and property and our services, or act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of You and our other visitors.

We may verify the information You provide to obtain our Products and Services through third parties who are contractually prohibited from using any information we provide to them for any purpose not specified by Asurion. In the course of such verification, we may receive additional personal information about You from such services. Upon request via postal mail or e-mail Asurion will provide You a summary of Your personal informationthat is retained by Asurion. As allowed by law and consistent with our applicable partner agreements, You may modify, correct, change, or request Asurion to delete or update and personal information that Asurion has collected through the Sites by contacting Asurion via postal mail or e-mail as provided in the Contact and Electronic Communication section of this Privacy Policy.

Please be aware that those sites may collect personal information from or about You and Your visit. The Services provided by Asurion are not directed to persons under 13 years of age. Asurion does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Asurion will take steps to remove personal information from Asurion Storage Systems and terminate the account should Asurion determine that a child under 13 has accessed the Services.


Information submitted via the Internet, including through a web page or e-mail is subject to interception or incorrect routing, and the Internet is not a fully secure communications channel. Please consider this prior to submitting any information to Asurion via the Sites. While Asurion follows generally accepted industry standards to protect the information submitted to us, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100 percent secure. Therefore, while Asurion strives to use commercially acceptable means to protect Your personal information, Asurion cannot guarantee its absolute security. Asurion does not receive funds directly from You when You utilize the Sites. Asurion utilizes a third party billing and payment processing gateway who provides the infrastructure and security necessary to provide secure transmission of Your credit card transaction data. Asurion can only accept credit cards for processing through our secured payment processing gateway. Although we do not control the security environment for them and cannot make any guarantees regarding the secure processing of Your credit card transaction data, we want to inform You that our credit card processor is compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (“PCI DSS”) as a Level 1 service provider. We demand that our credit card processors are compliant with PCI DSS. PCI DSS is the bankcard industry?s stringent security standard. Tax Information

The taxes charged to your credit card will reflect the applicable state and local sales taxes, and will be calculated when your order is shipped. Orders shipped to Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina (Only if sold at the same time as the purchase of the covered property. If sold by a third-party at a later date, it is not charged a sales tax.), South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia (Tax based on one-half cost of warranty), West Virginia, Wisconsin will have all applicable local and state sales taxes added to your total order, and to your shipping charges where appropriate.

To be clear, the Internet Tax Freedom Act (ITFA), which was signed into law on October 21, 1998, does not, as some have asserted, preclude sales and use taxes on any and all commerce conducted over the Internet. State and local governments are allowed to impose sales and use taxes on all such electronic sales, provided that the tax (and its rate) are the same as that which would be imposed on the transactions if they were conducted in a more traditional manner, such as over the phone or through mail order.

The ITFA is intended to prevent any jurisdiction from imposing special taxes on Internet transactions, other than such taxes that a jurisdiction already has the ability to impose (e.g., sales tax; see below). The ITFA prevents the imposition of any such taxes through November 1, 2003.

Currently, most e-commerce companies use the same taxation rules used by mail-order companies, which are based on constitutional guidelines for interstate commerce. Generally this means that states can only require companies to collect sales tax in states where they have business operations, and as a result, a company will not collect sales tax in states where they have no business operations. 1) I ordered a plan and have not yet received it.

2) What are the benefits of buying an Extended Service or Replacement plan?

Many new products come with an original manufacturer's warranty. Such warranties vary in both the length and type of coverage that is provided. 3) When do I need to buy a service or replacement plan from Asurion?

You have 30 days from the date you purchase your product to buy an extended service or replacement plan.

4) When does Service or Replacement plan coverage take effect, and how long does it last?

Please check your Asurion Protection Plan Validation email sent to you within 24 hours of purchase.   Start and end date along with Terms and Conditions for your plan are included in that email.

5) How do I file a claim for my product?

6) What options do I have for servicing my product? 

Once you file a claim, your customer service representative will help determine how best to repair your product. If you bought a service plan, and the failure is covered under the service plan, your item will be repaired. Service options available for repair are determined by Asurion. and include mail-in or carry-in service at a local  repair center, and in-home service on desktop computers and select electronics items. In some cases, at Asurion's discretion, you will be reimbursed the full amount that you paid for the product. If you bought a replacement plan, you will be reimbursed the full amount that you paid for the product, up to the dollar amount stipulated in the individual replacement plan.

7) Is my Service or Replacement plan transferable?

Yes! Should you ever want to resell your product or give it as a gift, service and replacement plans are fully transferable.

8) Can I cancel my service or replacement plan?

Yes, you can cancel your service or replacement plan at any time, for any reason. Depending on when you cancel, you will be reimbursed a prorated amount. For full details, call Asurion toll-free, (866) 551-5924.
