Ben Goedeker believed that customer service was more than just being polite, it was carrying a large selection of quality, name brand appliances and electronics at the lowest possible price. Ben also realized that to be successful he must have a knowledgeable sales staff to help educate his customers, helping them to make the best purchase possible. Tragically, Ben's life was cut short at the age of 50.

Steve Goedeker, Ben's eldest son, took over the business at this time. Building on the core principles and values established by his father, Goedeker's quickly became a household name in St. Louis and in 1989 Steve expanded the business to a 22,000 sq.ft. location. In 1990, two of Steve's siblings, Mike and Janet, joined him in the business. Mike was brought in to manage the sales department and Janet to run the accounting department. In St. Louis, Goedeker's became known as THE place to go for new appliances or TV's. With Goedeker's vast selection, knowledgeable sales staff, unbeatable low prices and excellent customer service, it grew to become the largest privately owned appliance and electronics dealer in Missouri.

Goedeker's was growing so fast it needed another location. In 1998 Steve opened a new headquarters. Located in the St. Louis West County suburb of Ballwin, Goedeker's opened its 50,000 sq. ft. megastore and added furniture and mattresses.

In 2008 Steve decided to add the same great level of customer service, vast selection of products and excellent pricing to the online market. In July of 2008, Number1Direct.com was created and today we have thousands upon thousands of satisfied customers all across the country.

Shipping Policies

Standard Delivery
This service includes delivery to the curb and does not include unpacking, plugging in, installation or debris removal. This delivery type is used for heavy and oversized items (large TVs, large furniture and large appliances).

+ PLEASE NOTE: There is a $200 charge for any orders that need to be delivered with a ferry. This is a non-negotiable flat fee. The most common areas that need a ferry for delivery include: Fire Island, Shelter Island, parts of Washington State and parts of Massachusetts (Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, etc.).

In-Home White Glove Delivery
Services include delivery within the first floor of your home plus uncrating, setting your goods in place and removing the packing material. It does not include installation of any type. Please make sure to have the areas inside where the product will be placed easily accessible and the path to these areas clear of obstructions, including removing any doors to get the product inside. Please take special care to ensure on all large appliance purchases, that these items will fit thru your doors based on the dimensions provided on our website for your convenience. 

NOTE: The shipper charges $40 / 15 minute increment to wait while doors are removed or a path is clear. If any charge is incurred, you will be billed for it. Once an order has been shipped, White Glove Delivery charges can not be refunded if the delivery company fails to perform all delivering services because of circumstances at the delivery.

Typically, your purchase will arrive to the destination of your choice in the continental US within 2 - 3 weeks. Some remote areas may take longer. The delivery company will contact you to schedule delivery once the order has shipped. You will receive an email with shipment confirmation, a tracking number and instructions on preparing for delivery as soon as your order ships.

Return and Exchange Procedure for Damaged Products
It is very important to inspect your product thoroughly once it arrives. Though the box and packaging may seem perfect, it is still possible that your product may be damaged. Before signing for your product, check for both internal and external damage. If you notice damage to the product or if the shipper refuses to let you inspect the items, sign for the product as damaged and call us immediately or, if we are closed, the next day that we are open. Failure to do so releases the shipper of all liability and exposes you to shipping and restocking fees, so please do not sign for your product as clean if you are unsure.

If you have received a defective unit, many manufacturers may require a simple service call to address or diagnose the issue. We will be happy to assist you with any service issues.

Number1Direct by Goedeker's is an Authorized Retailer for every brand we sell. All items come with a full manufacturer’s warranty, normally of one full year. Any potential problem related to a defect can be handled through the warranty and won't need to be returned. You can contact the manufacturer directly.
