PALM PDA SHIPMENTS

Palm PDAs are shipped by Amazon.  You are able to choose standard or expedited shipping. Once you have placed an order and the payment is processed via Amazon, you will receive an email containing tracking information.

ALL OTHER VALUE SELLS STORE SHIPMENTS

All non-PDA orders are shipped via UPS Ground. Your order will be shipped the first business day after your order is received and processed. Once the shipment has been prepared you will receive tracking information via email.

Q: What comes in the box with the Palm PDA?

A: Each Palm PDA is shipped with a stylus, a cable that serves both to sync and to charge the PDA when it is attached to a personal computer, a travel adapter (to charge the unit with the cable using an electrical wall outlet) and Product Information that gives detailed instruction for setting up sync of the PDA with Windows operating systems. Please refer to our custom pages for Palm Desktop Software downloads.

Q: Do I need a cradle to charge my Palm PDA?

A: A cradle is not necessary,  the cable that was shipped with your unit serves both to sync and to charge the unit when it is attached to your computer.

Q: Will my Palm PDA sync with Windows 7 or Windows 8?

A: All Palm PDAs are able to sync with Windows 7 & 8. The Palm m500 and m515 must sync via infrared beam. Email us at support@value-sells.com for set up instructions for this sync. The Palm Tungsten E, E2, Tx and the Z22 are able to sync via cable with Windows 7 & 8 though additional drivers are required.  Instructions for setting up the sync are included in each PDA shipment, however, we do offer customer and technical support, simply email us at support@value-sells.com

Q: Will my Palm PDA sync with MAC operating systems?

A: Palm PDAs will sync with MAC operating systems 10.6 and earlier. MAC operating systems of 10.6 and later cannot sync with Palm PDAs using the Palm Desktop. For this reason, we do not support sync of  Palm PDAs with MAC operating systems 10.6 and greater. 

 Q: When will my item ship?

A: Your item will typically ship the same or next business day after you place your order. Business days are defined as M-F and exclude weekends and holidays.

Q: I am having trouble syncing my new Palm PDA, how can I get technical assistance?

Sync of Palm Tx, E2, E & Z22 with Windows 7/64 bit

PALM SYNC WITH WINDOWS 7 USING ACEECA DRIVERS

 

In order to sync your Palm Tx, Z22 Tungsten E, E2, or E with your computer, you will need to download and install a driver to your computer. Use the following step by step instructions to set up for the sync. Please read all instructions before proceeding and contact us if you need further assistance.

 

1)  DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL PALM DESKTOP VERSION 6.2

 NOTE: If you have already installed the Palm Desktop, to your computer you can skip this step. If you are replacing a Palm pda, please email us directly, for more specific instructions on how to sync your new unit with your existing data.

  • Close all other programs and applications on your computer except your internet browser.

  •  Using your internet browser, go to the Cnet website, then click the Download tab, then Search "Palm Desktop Software", click the green download button next to the Palm Desktop Version 6.2.


  •  Once the file has completed downloading, you will either see a banner at the bottom of the page with the option to choose "Run" or the file will download into the Download folder on your computer. To access the download, click Start, then Downloads then double click on the file (it should be displayed at the bottom of the page), then Run.

 

  • Once the download begins you will be prompted, "Do you want the allow the following program to make changes to this computer?", choose “Yes”

 

  • Choose Setup Language, English is shown, then click "OK"

 

  • The Palm Install Shield Wizard will load, click  “Next”, Click “Next”, click the bubble next to "I accept", click “Next”, Uncheck the box next to "Download latest settings from the internet", click “Next”, make sure the  bubble next to "Complete" is filled, click “Next”, click “Install”

 

  • You will be prompted: “Do you want to create a shortcut on the Desktop?” Click “Yes” , then click “Next”

 

  • Please note: Be sure to respond “No” when asked if you want updates from the internet. These links are no longer valid.

 

  • You will be asked to choose a username for your device (there may be one there, you don't have to use it later (meaning you can change it if you need to), either enter a username or choose one, then click “Next”

 

  • You will be prompted “Select an application to use for your personal data”.  Make sure the bubble next to Palm Desktop is filled, then click “Next”.  We suggest using Palm Desktop to start, to make sure you get the unit and your computer talking, you can change to Outlook using the PIM Conduit. (Start>Programs>Palm, PIM Conduit>Outlook)  NOTE: Outlook 2010 & 2013 do not sync easily with Palm devices. You will need specialized instructions for sync with Outlook 2010 or 2013, email us for further information.

 

  • NOTE: If you previously synced to your computer or have a username already stored, you will be updated that some of the applications or data may not transfer and will be stored at a specified location, choose “OK”. They choose “Copy All” then click “Next”

 

  • You will be prompted to initiate a sync. Skip the sync step at this time, by clicking “Skip. You will be prompted: “Do you want to skip?” Click “Yes”, then click “Finish”

     

     

      

    2)  DOWNLOAD AND SET UP THE ACEECA DRIVERS

     

  • Using your internet browser, go to the Aceeca website,  click on Support, then Download, then Drivers. Click on the green download button, then Run. When downloading, you will either see a banner at the bottom of the page with the option to choose "Save" or the file will download into the Download folder on your computer. The file will download in "zipped" configuration.

  •  If you see the yellow banner, click on the arrow next to save and choose on "Save As" (click the down arrow to the right of the Save option) then specify your computer Desktop as the location.  Once the download is complete, right click on the zipped files icon on your desk top, scroll down to Open With, then scroll to Window Explorer, then minimize the page. Next, right click on an open space on your computer desktop, then create a new folder on your Desktop by right clicking on your Desktop, then choose New, then Folder and name it Aceeca, open a minimize the Aceeca Folder. Next drag each file from the "zipped" folder to the Aceeca folder. Then double click on the pdf file in the folder and print it. These are the instructions for setting up the sync. You must leave the newly created Aceeca folder on your computer desktop or the Palm Desktop program will not be able to locate the drivers. You can discard the zipped file you downloaded.

  • If you see the file downloading into your Download file (at the bottom left of the page you are downloading from), the go to Settings, then Downloads, then right click on the zipped files icon on your desk top, scroll down to Open With, then scroll to Window Explorer, then minimize the page. Next, right click on an open space on your computer desktop, then create a new folder on your Desktop by right clicking on your Desktop, then choose New, then Folder and name it Aceeca, open a minimize the Aceeca Folder. Next drag each file from the "zipped" folder to the Aceeca folder. Then double click on the pdf file in the folder and print it. These are the instructions for setting up the sync. You must leave the newly created Aceeca folder on your computer desktop or the Palm Desktop program will not be able to locate the drivers. You can discard the zipped file you downloaded.

    •  

  • Attach your new Palm PDA to your computer using the cable included with shipment of the PDA.  Your computer will signal “Installing Device Software”, this will take a minute or so, then your computer will signal “Device Software Not Successfully Installed” as the Window Installer will not automatically recognize the new driver.

     

  • To locate the drivers, open the Device Manager on your computer. Click Start, then enter Device Manager into the search window, then enter.

     

  • In the Device Manager window, under Other Devices, you will see your Palm PDA, listed as Palm OS Handheld. Right click in Palm OS Handheld, and you will see the option to Update Driver Software, click on Update Driver Software.

  • A dialog box will open and you will be prompted to “How do you want to search for driver software?” Choose “Browse my computer for driver software”, locate the Aceeca folder on your computer desktop, then click “Next”.  A dialog box will open and you will be prompted “Would you like to install this software?” Click “Install” Once the installation is complete a dialog box will open indicating successful installation: “Windows has successfully updated your device driver software” Click “Close”

 

  • You are now ready to sync your Palm pda with your computer.  Press the sync button on the cable to initiate the sync.  A grey window will open on your computer and a chime on the PDA will sound indicating the sync has begun.  Choose the username you enter in step one above, then click “OK”. Once the sync has completed a dialog box will open indicating successful complete of the sync.

Download and install. Uncheck box when prompted to receive updates from the internet. Choose the Palm Desktop. Email us if you need to sync with Outlook.

Palm m500 Sync Windows 7 & 8

PALM INFRARED BEAM SYNC using INFRARED ADAPTER

 

In order to sync your Palm m500 Series PDA with a Windows Vista or 7 64 bit computer, you will need to sync via infrared beam (IR).h.  Palm did not write drivers for USB sync with Windows Vista or 7 64 bit computers, so Infrared Sync is the only option. PLEASE READ THROUGH THE PROCESS FIRST, BEFORE BEGINNING.

To perform and IR sync you will need to use an infrared adapter called a USB to IrDA adapter, which has been included with your shipment. (The purple USB adapter)

NOTE: DO NOT INSERT THE PALM DESKTOP SOFTWARE CD THAT CAME WITH THIS UNIT INTO YOUR COMPUTER. The cd will automatically load a version that is not compatible with your computer and you will need to contact us for assistance in removing it.

 PROCESS

2) PREPARE THE UNIT

 - Go through set up of the touch screen, then set the date and time on the unit.

                               

 - Go to the Hot Sync application from the main Applications screen and tap on the drop down right below the Hot Sync symbol and choose IR to PC/Handheld.

 

3) SET UP YOUR COMPUTER FOR INFRARED SYNC

 - Click on the small up arrow in the system tray at the bottom right side of your computer screen. Make sure the red/blue Hot Sync Symbol is in the box (If not: Start>All Programs>Hot Sync  Manager)

 

 - Right click on the red/blue Hot Sync symbol, then click on Settings>Connections, then uncheck the USB box and check the Infrared Box, then Done



4) READY TO SYNC

 

- Enter some test data into the unit in the Address application.

                 

   - On the unit, go to the Hot Sync application and tap the Hot Sync Symbol

               

   - Be sure the top of the unit is facing the end of the infrared adapter, there may be a delay, this sync can take a few minutes.

               

 -  Open the Palm Desktop to check for your data, if it is there you are ready to go!
