Trouble with Traditional Music Box?

Sometimes problems can happen during shipping, although not very frequently. There are usually only two problems that can occur with the music box. One is the pin getting stuck from being mishandled during shipping and the other is if the music is wound too tight. Both are fixable if you do have any problems

  1. Check the pin – when you open the box there is a pin on the right hand side that should pop up. If it looks like this is stuck down or missing you can use a paper clip or pen to wiggle it so that it pops up or out of the hole.
  2. Wound too tight – Be careful when winding. If the music has been wound too tight you can try to give the box a good whack on the side a few times with the lid open to get the drum to start spinning again. If it does start playing please let it play until it completely stops, which could be a while. This releases all of the pressure from the spring.


Trouble with Digital Music Box?

Our digital Music Boxes are light activated so when you open the box they should start playing. If they do not please try the following steps:

  • Make sure the switch on top of the musical player is flipped to the side of the box closest to the white light sensor.
  • Ensure there is enough light in the room.
  • Check that the batteries are well seated in the music player. You can remove the musical player from the box by pulling up on the metal loop of the player. If there is a white tab coming from the battery compartment please remove it and discard.
  • If you still have any problems please let us know. We can often have a replacement player sent to you.
