Spyderco ParaMilitary2 G-10 Knife
Why change something if it works? Because, at Spyderco, we practice the principle of C.Q.I. - Constant Quality Improvement. If we can refine and improve the ergonomics or cutting performance of an established model, we do it.
Our 2010 Para Military 2 has several changes over the classic version. The G-10 handle is narrowed at the end improving the ergonomics. The handle and blade have been profile thinner; removing uncomfortable angles when in the closed position. It features a Compression Lock and an ambidextrous-friendly four way clip which carries tip-up/tip-down, left/right-hand and rests deeper in a pocket. We kept the same high-performance CPM S30V full flat-ground blade but we've also lengthened the blade's tip and added additional surface jimping to both the spine and finger choil. Implementation of a new Bushing Pivot System generates fluid action and more consistent manufacturing tolerances. Larger lanyard gives more options for carry.

Implementation of a new Bushing Pivot System generates fluid action and more consistent manufacturing tolerances. The G-10 handle is narrowed at the end improving ergonomics. The handle and blade have been profile thinner to eliminate hard angles when in the pocket in a closed position. It features a Compression Lock and an ambidextrous-friendly four way clip which carries tip-up/tip-down, left/right-hand that rests deep in a pocket. The Para-Military2 has a high-performance CPM S30V full flat-ground blade but we've lengthened the blade's tip and added additional surface jimping to both the spine and finger choil, then we coated it in non-reflective DLC (Diamond-Like Coating). Screw-together handle components, the pocket clip and the blade are coated in black to inhibit the folder's reflective qualities. For those of you who pay attention and want an actual product review:
The best knife I have ever owned.I have owned tons of gerbers and other knives through the years, mostly given to me by the military. I had a couple auto knives and I just never felt that I could deploy them in time for a stressful and threatening situation. I mostly prefer smaller knives, because I also carry a sidearm daily and the knife is just a secondary line of defense. I was skeptical after buying many cheaper non auto knives if this thing would open easily, and it does. This knife is the thing of a EDC'ers wet dream. I compared it to the para 3 and while I do usually prefer smaller knives, the odd size of the para 3 was actually bigger. The handle on the para 2 is perfect. The grip you get is amazing. I wish my handguns had grip like this thing. I wish all things had grip like this thing. I am so impressed, I will never carry another brand again. All these years I have been missing out. The pictures just do not do this thing justice. You need to hold it. Wrap your fingers around this work of perfection and it wont make it back into the case ever again. I would include pics, but there is no point. The only downside I don't like about this knife is the clip. It sits pretty high in the pocket and that is something I try to hide. Out of sight out of mind. So I bought an aftermarket clip to sit lower in my pocket. I can still deploy it the same way.
The best part about this knife, is that it says made in Colorado, Earth. Spyderco put that it is made on Earth... It's the small things that keep me amused in life...
Overall, I highly recommend this knife.
I'll start with the looks. The looks of this blade put all others to shame. It's beautiful, it's sleek, it's black. It's a different style than your average folding pocket knife. You can also move the clip to 4 different positions. I personally prefer the right handed tip up carry.
Next is the blade. The blade is well crafted. The S30V steel is incredibly tough. This knife came shaving sharp right out of the box. Although the first one I ordered was very dull and just didn't seem right especially when compared to other Spyderco's, the return process was smoothe and fast and I got just what I wanted in no time.
This has been my EDC since purchasing and I don't think I could ever imagine using another folder. It is the best money I've ever spent on a knife.
