We were so excited to get these to put into our son's Easter basket but did not receive the TOMY hide and squeak eggs.

We received a knock off - Kangaroo Hide N Tweet Eggs:
- There was dirt inside the egg carton
- Dirt & black marks on the eggs
- The eggs don't squeak
- The edges of the eggs were sharp with extra plastic material

So disappointed. We will be returning this toy. I really want the TOMY eggs as they appear to get rave reviews unfortunately I can't trust Amazon to send the appropriate item (some get the right items - some not). Just an FYI - we are in the Chicago area in case that makes any difference in regards to the Warehouse the item comes from.

I picked up this set to use in an Easter Egg hunt for my one year old granddaughter. I placed the eggs inside larger plastic eggs and set the carton part of the toy in her basket. She had loads of fun “finding” the eggs (which I placed pretty much in plain sight!) and opening them to find the Tomy Eggs. She then had fun placing the eggs in the container.

The carton looks like the container you buy eggs in at the grocery. It's yellow and has a stiff latch. I worked the latch until it was more easily pliable but at her age, she is keeping it open most of the time.

There are six eggs. They each fit into a unique spot in the carton as there is a shape on the bottom of the egg which matches a shape on the appropriate spot in the carton. Each of the eggs open by taking off the top part of the egg. They all “chirp” when you push down on the colorful part of the egg once the top is removed. The inside part of the egg has a unique color that matches the removable top of the egg. The tops all fit on every egg, so a child can mix and match them.

I like the toy for sheer play value – its cute and a young toddler can easily make the eggs “chirp”. I really appreciate that it is a toy that does not require batteries (the chirps are made by a whistle action that happens when you push down on the top.) I also like it for its educational value – colors and shapes. My granddaughter is loving it and her brother, who is 3.5 years old is also having fun with it – teaching his sister all about colors.

So I saw these as my niece's house and thought they were really cute and versatile toys and so I ordered them for my toddler for Easter. I noticed there were two brands, but it seemed Tomy, despite being cheaper, had better reviews (I noticed several people noting that the Kangaroo eggs don't squeak). So I ordered Tomy.

I didn't open the package immediately because I wanted to put the eggs into larger Easter eggs for my son to hunt but then when I finally got it out I was disappointed to find that the carton was really really difficult to open. Then when I finally opened it, the eggs didn't squeak. I was pretty annoyed, but the non-squeaking eggs rang a bell, I actually looked at the carton and realized that it was branded Kangaroo. I had been sent the wrong brand and hadn't noticed. I immediately emailed amazon explaining my situation and they refunded me without requiring that I return the Kangaroo set. So, two days later I got an actual Tomy set and got to compare them.

Tomy is exactly what I expected. The carton opens easily, the eggs do what they're supposed to etc etc. Kangaroo at first glance is almost exactly the same, until you start interacting with it: it is difficult to open, the inside of the carton had weird black marks, the eggs are an off white colour (which does make them easy to differentiate from Tomy, or you could just see if they squeak), and they barely squeak at all, maybe faintly every 4-5 presses.

Both my toddler and baby definitely can tell the difference. Neither of them want to play with the kangaroo eggs, in less than three days they have both come to strongly prefer Tomy and figured out ways to figure out which eggs are which, and then try to offload the Kangaroo onto the other sibling.

Don't waste your time on Kangaroo. Order Tomy, and if you get sent the wrong item, get in touch with Amazon so that you can get the right one.

This is one of my very favorite baby toys. I bought one for my oldest, 9 years ago when he was a baby, and we have lost one of the eggs in a vacuum so I just bought the same toy again for my youngest. All four of my kids have love it. The babies and kids (and adults) love to play with the eggs. My daughter is now 6 months old and she can hold onto the eggs well. They are just the right size that she can hold them but they are to big to cause me any kind of choking worry.

This toy is great bang for you buck. I would highly recommend this toy for any baby.

Things to know:
The egg carton is the size of a regular carton of eggs that holds 6 egg. It is made from sturdy plastic and is well made.
The eggs are each two pieces, a top and a bottom. The tops can fit on any of the eggs but the faces and colors match (the green face matches with the green egg). The eggs have funny faces on them.
The eggs make a squeaking noise when you push down on the colored "face". The squeak is fairly quiet and pleasant.

My toddler is OBSESSED with this toy. We got it for her when she was turning 1 and she loved taking the lids on and off and squeaking the eggs. Now, a year later, as she is about to turn 2 she still loves this toy. She likes to tell us the color of each egg, match the colored face on the lid to the matching colored egg and tell us the shape on the bottom of the egg and then find the spot that each egg fits into the carton. It's a really wonderful toy!

The description and box state "Press for Tweet Sound". None of the chicks in the box tweet. In addition the plastic container is difficult for an adult to open.I wanted to return the item but the return shipping is more than the time. Needless to say I won't be buying any more Kangaroo products.

I gave this set to my 2 year old in her easter basket and she really enjoyed them and still plays with them daily.

This set includes the yellow carton and 6 eggs with unique colors and shapes. The shells all have tops and when removed reveals six colorful chicks inside..

I don't like the fact that the top of the egg shells do not stay on when the eggs are tilted on their sides because it makes them difficult to hide for traditional easter egg hunt hiding.

When you press down gently on their heads they make a spring loaded type scraping sound that I feel does not sound at all like a chirp.... but again- my 2 year old loves these eggs.

They are easy for little hands to grip and she enjoys sorting the eggs into their spaces (squares, triangles etc ) each egg has its own specially shaped base inside the egg box.

All in all 4 stars because of the above problems but she does love them anyway.

I have also included some photos and hope you have found my review helpful☺

I also recieved a kmock off cheap crappy chinese egg set. This was not Tomy. The eggs are cheaply made, hardly squeak and smell toxic. Something is wrong here.

UPDATE: The item I received was "Kangaroo Hide N' Tweet Eggs", a fake knock-off product, even though it said it was sold & fulfilled by Amazon. If you receive an imitation, not "Tomy" branded toy, please report the seller to prevent these scams. I am returning mine for a refund.

These were so highly rated I thought they would be awesome; there was some kind of dust and grease inside the egg container that I had to attempt to clean when I first opened it, and then was very disappointed that the eggs do not squeak at all! At best, they make an almost imperceptible plastic scraping noise. I tried all 6, tried holding them different ways, none of them "squeak".

I am giving them 2 stars instead of one, because my baby did enjoy rattling all the pieces together. Down side, now there are egg pieces rolling all over that aren't easy to track down and put away. Oh well.
