It's a good option for people with carpal tunnel such as myself and looking for a more ergonomic option. If it had a better angle out-of-the-box I'd give it 5 stars, however with a little propping it can be perfect, see below. Tips:

1. To make it 10x more ergonomic, place a wedge with a 30 degree incline under it to make it the most natural wrist angle and keep you from resting any weight on the nerves in your wrist. Experiment with different angles to find the best for you personally. I trimmed a chunk of stiff foam from some laptop packaging material, see the attached photos. This has been a HUGE benefit for my wrists and in combination with other ergonomic tweaks to my setup and regular stretching and soft tissue work has left me pain-free for some time now.

2. You'll need to clean the dust and lint from the rollers and optical sensor under the ball once a week, it takes seconds but will keep the trackball nice and responsive.

I researched this on Amazon but finally purchased it in a retail store (it was about $5.00 less there!). I have a new Lenovo Ultrabook running Windows 8.1, and it came with built-in Bluetooth. I got tired of plugging a wireless adaptor in and out, so I thought I'd give a real Bluetooth mouse a try. It connects just fine and works on several different surfaces without difficulty (it uses Microsoft's Bluetrack technology for better tracking).

Others have noted that with Windows 8 and 8.1, the Bluetooth connectivity would go in and out. I've had that same experience, but the problem is not with the mouse but with how Windows Bluetooth is configured by default. There is a setting in Device Manager, under Bluetooth, under the Intel hardware adapter, on the power management tab that allows for a correction of the problem. Simply uncheck the box labeled "Allow the computer to turn off This device to save power" and your intermittent connection problems will go away. It might cost you a bit of battery time, but really not very much, and it's worth it. If you don't make this change the mouse is almost useless because if it sits idle for a few minutes, windows will turn off Bluetooth and - no more mouse.

The mouse has a power switch on the bottom so you can save battery power when it's not in use. The side touch pad works OK, but I don't think it's really an improvement on a back button. I reprogrammed it so a thumb swipe down acts as back button in Windows and more importantly in a web browser. Clicking the touch pad brings up the Start screen, which is not really all that useful (at least it hasn't been yet) and that does not appear to be programmable. I'm still accustomed to clicking my thumb to move back, so maybe I'll get use to it.

The Left and Right mouse buttons on top work as expected and are perhaps slightly quieter than most mice. The scroll button works well, and has both horizontal and vertical scrolling. It is a clickable wheel also, which is very convenient in a web browser (wheel click on a link and it opens in a new, separate tab). Some have asked so: the wheel is smooth, but the motion of it has a tactile click.

I'd give this mouse 5 stars if it were slightly smaller. I have medium sized hands, and a smaller mouse feels a little more comfortable to me, but this too, is simple what I'm used to. I prefer Microsoft mice to other brands, including Logitech. This one works just fine, and it's saving my sanity with quirky nature of the touchpad on my Lenovo, when trying to touch type on the keyboard.

Anyway, those of you that are reluctant to use this mouse due to the connection problems, there is a simple fix, and once that's done the mouse works great with no disconnect problems.

Overall the construction of the mouse is solid and the design is very pleasing on the eyes. As a mouse, the performance is excellent and I haven't had any issues once it's been paired with a PC.

Out of the box experience is mixed. There's no manual or quick start guide, only an infographic on the inside fold of the box that leaves out exactly how pairing the dongle is done. There's no mention anywhere of the 6th mouse button under the thumb rest, I only found it because rubber molding pops up a little for it and I tried to push the molding back down only to hear a click. I wonder how many people are completely unaware that the button even exists? The 4th and 5th buttons are utterly useless due to their size and placement so far back on the mouse. The "unique thumb wheel" is not in fact "perfect for horizontal navigation and advanced gestures". It would be better if they marketed it as "that weird cylinder that only does something in a few apps, does it poorly, and works backwards from what you'd expect".

I got mouse for working from home so I could control all the devices sitting on my desk and for the most part it's been a success. Unfortunately the button to switch devices is located on the bottom of the unit so it requires two hands to switch which is inconvenient. For whatever reason my Windows 7 laptop cannot discover this mouse when I put it into Pairing mode, my Windows 10 desktop and Macbook Pro find it immediately. Fortunately the mouse has a dongle I can use.

I absolutely love the Logitech MX mice.. I have been using MX mice for over 7 years. This is my third one over that period. The reason i upgraded is, the same reason i upgraded before, after many years of pretty constant use, the left button starts to "bounce" giving double clicks or no clicks or one click.

I have to give this new MX Master version 4 stars because the charging cord is too short, probably a foot shorter than the previous generation. I have a tower PC and the new charging cord won't allow me to charge the mouse while i am using it (because of the short cord.) For me this is a major problem.

Luckily i can use my cord from the previous generation.

A minor issue - I paid a few extra dollars for the Navy version and only the trim is navy. Plus it is a very dark navy and hard to distinguish from the black mouse. In the picture i thought the entire mouse was navy.

Update - Battery life
I don't see any improvement over the last generation MX. However, that is just from my constant use of the mouse, no empirical data. I use the mouse at least a few hours a day, sometime more and i rarely get more than a few days before i need a charge. The interval between charges is directly linked to the amount of use.

I used trackballs more than a decade ago but moved away from them as mice became less expensive and presented many more design options from which to choose. I decided to try a trackball again to minimize my arm movement around the desk and found few available on the market these days. Some were too expensive and others seemed to be of low quality. This Logitech model was one of the more popular models and had a reasonable price so I decided to give it a shot. I've found it to be comfortable and of good quality, with quite a few buttons and options for configuration. I'm giving it four stars because it delivers what it promises but it needs a few more options like Bluetooth connectivity, a tilting scroll wheel and slightly higher build quality in terms of plastic thickness and quality feel. They should offer a trackball choice somewhere between this price point and their $99 MX Ergo model.

Wanted to give trackballs a try. This was in the right price point and I am glad I tried it. Though the higher end model was the one I really wanted due to the tilting function, reviews did not give me the confidence that it is worth $100. For now the > $20 M570 gets the job done.

The only issues I have are the scroll wheel being very cheap and rough, then the back forward buttons are mushy. Other than that the ball rolls just fine and the mouse buttons are firm. I also like the fact that Fedora 25 has no issues using this across four monitors. Was a little nervous about getting the settings just right, but the sensitivity out the box was just right.

I have been an avid Logitech Trackball user for over ten years. I have been able to clean them and keep them running nicely with no problems. I got this one for the wireless factor (I'm way overdue for an upgrade), and I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the "programmable button" feature is not supported by my version of Windows and I would like to be able use them for page up and page down. The only function I have found is page back and page forward while browsing the internet. Since we're likely going to be together for 10+ years, I'm sure I'll find some way to make the buttons serve my needs better.

I've been using this for about a week and I really like it! This is the first time I've ever used a trackball mouse. I had my doubts about whether I would adjust, but it was amazingly easy for me. This mouse was made with a lot of care. There are grooves for all of my fingers and the trackball is smooth and intuitive. I use this with my iMac and I didn't have to download anything to get it to work. Just plug in and go - my kind of product! Even though I have an iMac and MacBook, I use all Logitech products because they are ergonomic. I miss the functionality of the apple mouse, but if this mouse will save my joints in the long run, it's a small price to pay.

If I had to offer some constructive criticism, it would be that I wish this mouse was just a tad smaller. My wrist tends to hover because the mouse is a bit large for me, but other than that, everything seems work really well.

I've always liked Logitech's products - mice, keyboards, and Harmony remotes. This was the first trackball mouse controller that I tried. Like most Logitech products, it has a solid build and well thought-out design. Your hand cradles the whole device giving good support. The buttons and scroll wheel have the right amount of sensitivity and definitive click when pressed or rolled.
Logitech's unifying connector is innovative and great if you have multiple devices connected to the same computer - one dongle can support all of them without consuming more than one USB port.
The ball rolls smoothly, but has some definite friction to it, which I really liked. I tried several other trackballs and they all rolled a little too freely, making precise movements more difficult.

Ultimately I returned this for the following reasons:
1. I'm not a fan of the thumb-controlled ball... I prefer finger-controlled. This is purely a preference, nothing against Logitech's design, but it would be great to see a wireless model with the ball on the top rather than side.
2. Scroll wheel does not pivot left and right or have the hyper scroll - both found on several Logitech mice, including the Anywhere MX
3. Lacks Bluetooth. While the unifying option is helpful to preserving USB ports, Bluetooth (no dongle) would be better.

I've had 2 of these mice over the last 7 years or so. It always surprises my friends when I tell them I game w/ a trackball, let alone a wireless one. I only got a second one to replace my old one as the scroll wheel started slipping a bit and no longer had a click sound to the buttons or scroll wheel. The older one still works fine however, just worn out. I now use it on my older laptop that I use for audio processing.

The battery life is great, use lithium batteries if you want the full 18 month stated life cycle.

However on my newer second one its started to develop the double click on single click error due to possibly faulty switches. Since this developed much later from when I bought it I cant return it thru amazon. I may see if Logitech has a repair/replace warranty program.
