Looked at a bunch of chukka type shoes. Based on the price and how much i like Filson, I went with these. As every review said, they run long, so while I wear an 11 in everything, I got a 10.5 and the length is great. With any kind of sock, though, my toes are tight on the sides in the show. I suspect it will stretch, though as a few others mentioned, this does not seem to be the highest quality full grain leather. If you're thinking "Saddleback Leather", think again. I suspect that these will be more for "show" than for "go". The sole is sort of funky. It feels "convex". It is thin, which I like. If I wanted "boots" I'd get Danner Mountain Light II's. One other thing that I am not sure how they avoid is that the show seem to chafe the top of my foot where the leather meets the canvas. It is like there is a lip or a seam, which they probably need to hold the shoe together. This is not a deal breaker, and when I tie the shoes looser it is ok. The other thing that is more annoying than an actual problem is that the tongue slides around. Again, that is a "show" not a "go" issue. I'm keeping an eye on ebay for a pair of Eastland or Sebago chukkas made with Horween leather, or made in USA, to see if the leather is that much better or if I am just a sucker for the USA marketing.
These shoes looks great with jeans and Khaki's. I am a D width and these shoes felt very tight when I first put them on. I am hoping they will stretch out and feel better the longer I wear them. I ordered down a 1/2 size because other reviewers commented that Sebago's tend to run longer in length. The shoes feels like a boat shoe. If you like wearing boat shoes, then these will make a nice addition. I plan on keeping them because they are quality Filson/Sebago shoe. They look great and I hope they will feel more comfortable with wear over time. I am following up with a comment about the fit. I have worn these now for a couple of weeks, and have not experienced any discomfort. The shoes were tight at first, but they have conformed to my feet and feel just right.
