I bought five pairs of these "No Show" style socks for 11.99 each (pricey) and have worn them daily since October 20, 2011 (3 months as of this writing). All four pairs of my Vibram Five Fingers shoes were new and I wanted to protect them from what another reviewer calls the "Five Finger Funk" : ) These socks did it for me! All four pair of my VFF shoes smell like new after 3 months. Love these socks!!

Material
They are thin and while they haven't shown wear, I recommend being really careful about keeping toenails short and smooth or the socks look like they might get holes. No signs of wear for me yet though and I have worn the socks in my VFF shoes for 3 months using them for everyday wear, hiking, walking miles on pavement, road, jogging, treadmill, gym, etc. I do hand wash them(see Care below).

I thought being so thin the material might be abrasive to my skin, but it isn't. It is "gentle on the skin" just like the manufacturer claims. (Info found at permara.com/fresh-gear). They are very comfortable.

My ONLY complaint (besides being pricey) is the round elastic at the top edge of the sock leaves quite an indentation on my foot. When new I found it a bit uncomfortable but with time the elastic seems to have loosened just enough that I don't notice it anymore. However, for those of you who may have sensitive skin, a rounder/larger foot, or edema, you might find this uncomfortable or downright painful.

Care
These puppies are so expensive that I decided to hand wash them. The antimicrobial properties have to be "recharged" according to the manufacturer by using chlorine bleach. (Info found at permara.com/technology). I bought a bottle of Clorox Bleach and since I didn't want any bleach mishaps decided to transfer a small amount into a large dropper bottle that I now keep under the bathroom sink where I wash the socks. I wait until I have three pair to wash and plunk them into a sink of warm slightly sudsy water (I use a few squirts of castile from the dispenser we wash our hands with at the bathroom sink) with two dropper-fulls (1 tablespoon) of bleach, soak the socks while I'm taking a shower, then hand wash the socks by squishing them (no rubbing), squeeze them (versus wring) and hang to dry. The time/trouble to hand wash isn't really the big a deal I thought it would be and perhaps has paid off in keeping these pricey socks like new as they show absolutely no signs of wear at this point.

Fit
I wear a women's 8 1/2 - 9 shoe, have a wide foot, and the M/L fits as if the manufacturer made them just for me! I'm buying five more pair so when I travel I can wait until I get home to wash them.

This performance sock is performing for me!

May 2012 Edit:
Bought hubby Vibram Five Fingers and he tried on my socks (the M/L) and they fit his huge feet. He says they're snug but not uncomfortable. So far no sign of wear from his use but he's not overly hard on clothing/socks etc. He wears an 11 1/2 shoe size and Five Finger size 45 in the Komodo Sport)

Wear added note: I put some long, hard, hot and sweaty miles on my most worn pair of these socks and very little signs of wear occurred on the inside under the heel area. Still a fan of these socks!

I ordered these to wear with my Vibram Fivefingers Jaya and Jaya LR styles because I wanted something that would be completely no-show with these styles that other brands were not offering. They are super thin and fit perfect and are totally no show. They work beautifully with my Five's (and regular shoes) and have 3 pair so I can rotate and handwash them in between wears (they dry fast). I have never had a problem with athlete's food, but I do with smell =(

They arrived quickly and ordering was a breeze (love Amazon!)

I would definitely recommend these to anyone with fivefinger shoes that maybe have a problem with odor going sockless for long periods of time.

If you are a fivefingers enthusiast, check out (birthdayshoes (dot) com)!

These socks are amazing! They have saved me so much hassle and pain. They are very thin and seamless so you don't even know you have them on. I wear them under my regular socks. I never had a blister until the podiatrist formed orthotics to my feet. Since I walk a lot, I ended up with 22 blisters and could not get them to heal. I researched blisters and found many people used the toe socks to help from getting blisters. They were right! My doctor couldn't believe the difference. I even used them to protect those awful blisters with some vitamin E cream on my feet and they did not slip even with the cream on. Now they keep my feet dry and the blisters have not returned! You won't regret using these. My doctor had given me toe separators, but now I no longer need those because these do the trick. Now my feet are truly in heaven and I don't go a day without them!

I just received these FreshGear socks, and I wanted to point out to prospective buyers that they are 100% cotton. This detail might be important to folks who are thinking about running in these socks. And I can now understand the reviewers who were disappointed about getting holes in the toe pockets so early in the lifecycle of the socks - when I tried to put my Vibrams on over the socks, it was a pretty tight squeeze to get my toes into the shoes. As a result, there's some pretty good pushing required to get toes all the way in, and I can imagine that the toe area of the socks gets some undue stress in the process. The socks do seem comfortable and will provide just a little bit of extra cushioning (as well as warmth when running in chilly weather), and I am anxious to take them for a test run.

My son has Skeletoes and had trouble wearing them without socks. I tried a pair as well for awhile and understand how having the right sock can make them more comfortable. So we tried some 'fuller' socks Injinji Performance Original Weight Micro Toesocks first which worked really well.

These were the next edition since you can't only have one pair of socks. But they fall short a little across the top of the foot. While we knew they were 'no show' and not a complete sock, it wasn't until we wore them that the absence of the fabric across the top of your foot is, for us, not the best. The Skeletoes have some pretty strong elastic fabric with a seem across the top of your foot and the absence of sock material in this area means that the Skeletoe shoes rub there. Also, because there is less structure to these socks, they are more likely to fall into your shoe as you walk. I found myself bending over to pull them back up a the heel and ultimately, ended up with heel blisters.

So although they are comfortable and functional, buy them knowing what the limitations are.

We bought these 8 May 2013 and they developed holes in the toes the week of 15 August 2013. So they lasted a little longer than two months. The fabric is thin, which is good for Vibram Five Finger shoes, but they certainly didn't last long. For $9.99 a pair ($19.98 for two), I would think they might be better made, or lower priced. My teen switches between these socks and the Injinji Men's Sport Ped Toesocks, but these socks ($20 for two pairs), even with being switched out with the other two pairs of FreshGear socks, also developed holes, lasting around the same amount of time. So I haven't been able to find a No-Show Toe Sock that lasts longer than approximately two months.

I bought them 'cuz I wear boat shoes without socks (looks better, guys) and after a while ... you all know what happens(especially when one decides to remove the shoes). But the big purpose is for my current travel (20+ hours by plane ... one way). Imagine not being able to remove your shoes onboard for that length of time. So, with the Toes Socks on, I could take of my shoes (didn't stink cuz of the anti-microbial feature + the fact that each toe is snugly cuddled in soft material .... thereby absorbing the sweat). Really great. The down side ..... the Toe Socks only come in white. So, when I had to remove my shoes to go thru airport security, the soles got a bit dirty. Please, please please ........ make them in black, brown, beige, etc. .... maybe in all the rainbow colors, too. Thanks.

I had foot surgery & toe problems. I had purchased a "lot" of fancy throng sandals & was not happy w/the way my toes looked. These were great to wear w/thongs, I even put iron-on stones on the toes (U can also use alene's fabric glue) they R lite & my feet get lots of circulation. They aren't heavy (B sure & get a pedi 2 avoid any snags). Thanks FRESHGEAR AFX this was the answer 2 my prayers!Footnote: I dyed 1 pr. of the toe socks 2 a beautiful flesh tone so they weren't so "stark white" on my foot & looked weird. Use your own creativity, but they do dye well.

After wearing these for about a yr......I've had to come back and revise my positive review for them. They were fine and comfortable when first bought.....however they have slowly broken down in the wash and lost the elastic. Now they absolutely do not stay on and scrunch up under the arches of my feet when I work out. Very uncomfortable and just awful!!

Plus.....since they are left foot and right foot specific.....if you lose one you are SOL with the remaining pair.....unless you have spare pairs and turn them inside out!

I am fairly disappointed in them.......and will not purchase again.
Better to just stick w regular gym socks!
