Terrible quality, misleading photo and reviews
on June 10, 2013
I've never written a review on Amazon, but I just had to for this product. How do I put this lightly? The shirt is hideous. It's extremely wrinkled, awkward, see-through, and cheap looking. It looks like it was cut from a cheap, thin tablecloth. The actual product is darker than it appears in the stock photo, which was probably lightened to give the illusion of thicker, more substantial fabric. "You get what you pay for" does not justify the laughably bad quality of this shirt. If I cannot return this, I will use it to wipe my bedroom floor. It is insulting that Allegra K/uxcell think they can get away with selling falsely advertised junk to people.
I'm usually cautious when buying clothes from China or Hong Kong because I've had bad experiences in the past. I bought a few shirts from several wholesale sites like sammydress.com and wholesale-dress.net, and was very disappointed. Companies like those, Allegra K included, use stock photos, which the actual products only vaguely resemble. They're made of such low-quality material they will either look like an ugly polyester raincoat or bleed in the wash, and the only options you have are to donate them or throw them out. You cannot wear their clothing in public. In addition, some reviews for wholesalers are fake- short with vague descriptions that are used over and over for many products. Against my better judgement, I bought this shirt based on its high ratings. Unfortunately, I've just now realized that those users have submitted similarly worded reviews for other Allegra K products.
Always watch out for the credibility of reviewers, especially when there are so few of them rating a product from a questionable company. Watch out for obscure, short reviews that sound too good to be true. Allegra K products almost always have a few 1-star reviews for its quality. Read all the 1-star reviews first. From my experience, the users who give high ratings are lying or have extremely low standards. In general, don't take a gamble with wholesalers based in China and Hong Kong and you'll save yourself a lot of trouble. It's insulting to receive these things in the mail when you're anticipating a good deal, and it's even more infuriating thinking that the company will continue to sell junk to other people. Please make careful decisions, and good luck shopping.
EDIT: I would like to emphasize that I am not someone with extremely high standards, I am a low-income college student on a tight budget. I do not have money to throw around, and I know why these items are so appealing. I bought a lot from these wholesalers before I admitted to myself I was losing money because the items were simply too ugly/low-quality to keep. This was the purchase that made me stop buying from wholesalers entirely, hence the tirade. Yes, sometimes the item is something you can work with, but it takes a lot of effort. Who wants to own a mediocre item, much less PAY any amount at all for one? I find it surprising that most of the negative reviews are about the sizing when the shirt simply looks...bad, fitted or not, and nothing like the stock photo. Trust me, I wanted to like this item. The alternative was admitting to myself that I had, once again, wasted money.
These prices aren't even that great. If you're willing to buy clothes from China for around $8, you should just consider a more reliable alternative- thrifting. Look up a nearby Salvation Army.
