About the author

A 5th book entitled "The Story of Rex of White Way, The Blizzard King, For Young Readers" was published August 12, 2019 in Amazon Kindle and KDP soft cover format. The target age group for the new book from Rex the Blizzard King Stories, LLC is grades 2 through 8. Featured are new pictures and an easier to follow story of Rex of White Way, the working Samoyed. Rex is truly a hero to believe in! The 4th book entitled "Samoyed Tales Trilogy" by Jim Cheskawich, Annie Reid, and Cheryl West with Celinda Cheskawich was published on December 31, 2017 through Amazon Create Space and Amazon Kindle. The book celebrates Life, Love & Lessons with our Dogs. We have new pictures of Rex of White Way and original artwork and poetry by Annie Reid and Cheryl West. Sometimes we encounter phenomena without ready explanation that suggest another dimension beyond the accessibility of our five senses. This is a collaborative effort among the co-authors which readers should find enjoyable as we share stories of our companion Samoyeds. The Kindle book won gold and double silver e-Lit and e-Book awards respectively. The softcover was a finalist for the Maxwell Award. "Vietnam 1971, Remembering the 101st Then And Now" was released on Kindle in the fall of 2016 with the coffee table sized hard cover with dust jacket also available. It has been well received and is a healing memoir focusing on moving forward. The book took nearly 3 years to complete and features many pictures and graphics capturing the times including Dylan, Janis, Jimi, Stars and Stripes, WAMO, Ft. Dix, Ft. Ord and material I saved from my tour with the 101st Airborne Division in I Corps many years ago. The digital version won multiple Gold Medals for Best in Non-Fiction Military and Best in Memoir/Autobiography in Dan Poynter's Global E-Book Award competition. If you somehow missed the War or want to learn more about it, this could be the book for you. It has already been referred to as the new gold standard for Vietnam books. I found it healing for me to write about what I experienced and to share with you. It is all non-fiction including the 5 dancing eagles soaring in the sky, referred to at the front of the book. Without Rex of White Way, however, there would be no Vietnam book as Rex was my first non-fiction work. Rex was easy and fun to write about and we got caught up in his greatness and wanted to share it all with the world. Writing the story on Rex of White Way began around 2003. We started with the idea of a docu-drama on Rex always thinking we could do the book at any time. Over time, it became evident that we needed the book on Rex as none of us were getting any younger and the people with first-hand knowledge of Rex were moving on. The serious writing on the book began in January of 2012 from the notes and stories collected for the docu-drama. The research, pictures, maps, art work, etc. all took time. I had a wonderful editor who made the process pretty easy as all I had to do was tell Rex's story. I wanted a book that would appeal to all age levels. Hope you enjoy Rex and his escapades! The colorful artwork, maps, drawings, and historic black and white photos make this a special book. My third book, a statistical report on important Samoyeds in the U.S., is a Kindle version only of a report prepared by Jim Osborn. The book will only appeal to serious Samoyed owners and breeders. The title of the third book is "A Study of the Genetic Origins of the Samoyed Dog." Feel free to write to me or contact me. I enjoy being in the classroom discussing Rex of White Way, Samoyeds, writing, history, or what I learned from my Vietnam experience that I took into the world of work after my military obligation was completed. I am proud to be a Vietnam Veteran! Only about 1/4 of us perhaps still remain from that War, but I plan to make the most of my remaining time and writing is a pleasurable experience for me.
