I am: a slow reader, a fast writer, a life-long gamer, a loving husband, a loyal boyfriend, a serious gay, a casual vegan, a below-average cook, a better-than-average eater, a daytime fundraiser, a nighttime dog-cuddler, a proud dilettante, and a Southerner, whether I like it or not. I've written about many things, including videogames, travel, theatre, pop culture, and LGBT life. It's safe to say that my interests are broad. I was one of those kids who enjoyed reading encyclopedias on rainy afternoons. I've written for many outlets, including Gawker, Fodors, High Gear Media, and dozens of points in-between. I tend to say yes to everyone and everything. It's a policy that's served me pretty well. On a personal note: I was adopted and raised in Mississippi, but moved to New Orleans as soon as I finished college. I still live there with my husband, our boyfriend, and our assortment of mostly deaf hounds. You can follow me on my personal website (sturtle.com), Facebook (RichardRead), Instagram (@sturtledotcom), and Twitter (@sturtledotcom and @RichardRead).
