Three Suggestions To Improve This Light Therapy Lamp

There’s no question this therapy light (it is not a lamp, which serves an entirely different purpose) is more than bright enough to treat seasonal affective disorder. However, I have three suggestions that should be added to future versions of the light.

First, the button that controls the brightness and turning the light on and off is directly under the light panel. This is an extremely bright light, and the user’s manual advises you shouldn’t look into the light directly when it is turned on, but the only way to turn it off is to look to locate the button, which means staring into the bright light! Move the power button to the back end behind the light panel.

Second, the well written instructions that come with the light advise using the product in the morning no more than 30 to 60 minutes per day. So that you don’t have to set a timer on your watch or phone to turn the light off, it would be an improvement to add a 30 and 60 minute automatic shut off timer to the revised product.

Third, the plastic stand is next to impossible to snap into place. Replace this with an already attached stand for the light that swings and locks into place. This will also make it easier to collapse the stand and quickly pack it away for travel purposes.

This item was packaged compactly, yet easy to open. It's surprisingly light. There are 2 problems: 1) The stand doesn't fit properly. There are 2 tabs on the bottom of the lamp that should fit into 2 slots on the separate base. One tab will pop into one slot but not the other. I tried one side then the other with no success. Then, I tried to do both at the same time--still no luck. I finally gave up & have the lamp balanced on one secure tab. 2) The power button is on the front of the lamp. Plus, it's so sensitive that the lamp switches on when I barely brush the button. So I get hit with the blinding light before I get a chance to look away. Then, when I want to turn it off, I can't see the button; I have to fumble for it. And I'm always afraid I'm going to knock the lamp off it's stand because it's only secured by the one tab. If I were designing this lamp, I would put the power button on the side or back of the lamp. Nevertheless, I'm glad I tried this product. I've suffered from chronic insomnia for years. All the doctors can recommend are sleeping pills with terrible side effects. I've only had the lamp for a week. I'm getting sleepy earlier at night & waking up earlier in the morning. I'm also sleeping more soundly in between. So I'm very pleased. Perhaps their other lamps are designed better this one. I would recommend this light therapy for anyone with insomnia/circadian rhythm disorder.

I really like the quality and ease of use of this device. I'm a bit upset at their marketing strategy leaving most people with the understanding that they can use this at like 18", because you can't.

For the full effect you need to be at 10,000LUX which the last page of the manual says is at 5.5-6.5" only, so if you're farther away than that the effects will be greatly diminished.

With that said I found a way to make it work. Every morning at 8ish I set the light on a box and turn it upside down to get a better angle. I can then look over the light at my phone and mess around on my phone or read a book for 30 minutes while being intentionally blinded lol.

I'll definitely continue using this light and appreciate the purpose and effort from the developer (btw they're on shark tank, good episode!)

I gave it 4 stars because it would be improved with a stand that would fold flat rather than a separate static "kickstand" that snaps in. It's a pretty self-explanatory product, so all I will say is the quality of the construction is top notch and the light extremely bright and easy to turn on/off.

Seems to do better in waking me up than any other in this price range, and my plants love the light after I'm up, so it can certainly stay on for at least 10 hours at a time without any issues.

Unless you feel like spending another 50 bucks for the next level up, with relatively few benefits, this is the best low to mid-range sun lamp I've used thus far (out of maybe 4-6 over my lifetime)

Surprised but it works

I bought this item with some trepidation, I was not a believer, thinking that a simple bright light cannot get me out of the doldrums I was in. I received it quickly and it was well packed.

Switching it on, it was extremely bright in the evening light so I tried the other two options for brightness and it got progressively less bright. That said, since I switched it on I have left it at its brightest setting and I will explain why.

I used it the next morning for the first time, I rise at 5 am and start work at 5:30 am. I switched on the light and although I felt it was very bright I continued to bear with it. Before using this I was tired, I mean really tired, exhausted when I woke up. I struggled to get out of bed, I was challenged by the first hours of work and on occasion needed to go lie down again for an hours nap at odd times in the day. I was unable to do anything and my mind was fuzzy.

From the first day I used it I felt progressively better, I have used it every day I work at home from the moment I go into my office. I would not work in winter without it now. On the first day, I could feel the light waking me up, making me more alert and making me want to get back to doing things. My wife is delighted, she says I am a different person in winter now.

It may not work for everyone but it works for me.

The reason I gave it four stars and not five is simply that its construction it is not an expensive item to make so why charge so high a price. Other than that, LOVE IT

I'm very happy with this lamp. Being a smaller lamp, it doesn't have as great a range as the Circadian Optics Lampu, which I also tried... but the Lumine (this one) is much easier to use, since it has the touch sensor on the front where you can easily find it. They both have the same light output, the only difference is range, which is dependent on size. It was a tough decision between the two, because a bigger lamp with greater range is better when you're moving around the room as you work, whereas with the smaller one you have to stay closer to stay in range and get the full effects of the light... but at the end of the day, the hassle of not being able to find the hidden touch sensor was just not worth it. This lamp may have a smaller range, but it's easy to use, which leads me to use it more, so I actually get more benefit from it in the long run. I think "which is better" is a matter of personal opinion, whether the trade-off of range vs ease of use is worth it.
