I am just utterly amazed by the impact this short collection of poems has had on me. I am not much of a poetry reader, but when I saw Claudia’s review of this book, I knew I had to give this one a try! I am so, so happy Sam Payne emailed me about reading his collection in return for an honest review! Thank you so much Sam for reaching out to me!
This collection of poetry is the book I never knew I needed in my life. This resonated deeply with me. The heartache is just so clear and I could emotionally feel his pain while reading along. I empathized with every emotion he put us through. First, the pain from the initial heartbreak, and then the light was let in and he began to see life is beautiful again, and then the rainbow. Realizing that through all the pain, he was able to overcome his suffering and become someone better than before because of it. I was able to empathize so deeply because I too have been through the storm that heartache can bring. I really wish I had been able to read something like this during my tough times. All I can say is thank you to Sam for being so brave and writing such an emotional and empowering collection.
I also want to acknowledge the beautiful drawings that accompany the poems. This book is riddled throughout with drawings that correlate with the poems. They really added an extra layer of depth to the collection.
I highly, highly recommend this collection of poetry for anyone who has felt the sting of heartache or who is currently going through a similar situation. I give this colletion of poems a shining 5 out of 5 stars!! I absolutely adored this book! Publication date is January 1, 2018!
