These gold ones were however much more disappointing than the silver-colored ones. They came fairly bright in color, but quickly lost luster. I feel fairly skeptical as to the quality of their plating. Furthermore, the prongs themselves were only straight on 2 of the 5 connectors. The others had a bit of a bend or other blemish that really didn't excite me.
I know these are quite affordable, and that's what gives them a three star rating compared to what would otherwise be two star (or if I had expectations for them to be very high quality, I would say they're arguably 1 star.)
But overall if you're repairing headphones I recommend you replace them with a connector rather than splicing the wires into another cable. Often headphones have enamel coated protection, which is hard to solder to, and furthermore a splice inline will always create a stress concentration that has to be worked around.
However, if you're doing this cheaply you may be better off looking at the selection of silver connectors, where the cost savings of not being gold plated seem to pay off in moderately higher quality production.
arrived quicker than expected
gold color goes well with the cables
the spring helps reduce fraying on the cable ends
the channels are identifiable
The leads are a bit fragile
Solder will not always adhere
you will need heat shrink tubing as any contact with the outer shell will mess up the signal
one of the springs came bent
the threads can slip but my plugs had little to no flashing compared to what i read from other reviews
