- Standard silicones are resistant to water (to 100°C), aliphatic engine and transmission oils and animal and plant oils, and fats.
- Silicones are generally not resistant to fuels, aromatic mineral oils, steam (short term to 120°C is possible), silicone oils and greases, acids, or alkalis.

Hack, works perfectly as a Swell-type bottle cap seal

I’m not sure what this was originally designed for, but I have a few 17 oz and 23 oz water bottles by Swell and others that have o-ring seals that are disgusting. No amount of cleaning (including boiling them in water and soaking them in vinegar) could get rid of the old coffee smell. The caps are fine so I don’t want to replace them, just the seals. This item comes to the rescue.The 22mm size is perfect for the 17 and 23 oz caps. It stretches a little like a rubber band and provide an excellent seal. I did a few shake tests and nothing leaked out. It comes in a pack of 20 so they are truly disposable.I’m thrilled that I can finally throw away my old, darkened, smelly old Swell o-rings!!

The 22mm size is perfect for the 17 and 23 oz caps. It stretches a little like a rubber band and provide an excellent seal. I did a few shake tests and nothing leaked out. It comes in a pack of 20 so they are truly disposable.

Perfect little O-Rings

I bought these as a replacement for the silicone o-ring that broke on a famous brand glass water bottle. Granted, the water bottle is used every day, it was faithful for three years. So now I have a lifetime supply, I don’t have to worry about replacing these things. It was very simple to replace, included a picture here. The pin slides out easily with a 5/64 punch.
