These aren't too bad but be warned that cutting them is more of a problem than you might think. Yes you can cut them, or score them with a knife and snap them off, but the plastic between the holes is so thin that you may have to sacrifice a pin to do so. Scoring them with a soldering iron or hot knife is probably a better idea than using a box cutter as you're less likely to lose a pin that way. No matter how you do it you're going to want to seal off the ends with a soldering iron.

Losing a pin isn't that big of a deal except when you're trying to turn this 1x40 into a 2x20. If you have lots of 2x20s to solder then just buy 2x20s would be my recommendation.

They work, but are incredibly difficult to break down to size. If you need 4 pins, you must break it along pins 5 and 6, then use a Dremel or grinder to smooth the aftermath of the break.

I always destroy a pin. Wire cutters break away a lot of plastic. Hack saw blade is similar. A sharp x-acto knife has yielded the best edges yet.
