Obviously if you are reading these reviews on amazon you are either a). a frustrated female who needs help, b.) is desperate for a clean feeling Vah-jayjay OR c). you are the man/husband of the female who needs this product and your trying to help her or yourself cuz this can seriously destroy her ability to be comfortable and secure with you in your private moments. LOL
Let's cover what it does:
1. removes any and all odor.
2. Keeps the Vah-jayjay fresh and clean feeling and smelling even after washing.
3. Discharge of any kind, yuk!
4. Considerably helps with bacteria infections and works to maintain a 'healthy', 'balanced' environment as it relates to our girly parts.
Best way to use:
1. after your evening shower (or just before you go to bed) insert 'up and into' your vah-jayjay. Push it waaaaay up in there. You want that good bacteria to get waaaaaay up in there so as to fully do it's work. Comes with an applicator but i got tired of washing the applicator after each use so i preferred to use my fingers and push it up in there, way up there ladies. Can't put enough emphasis on the 'waaaaaay' part! laugh ....seriously!
2. put a thin panty liner on and go to bed OR lay down for a long time.
3. You want the good bacteria to stay in there and do it's work while you sleep. yes it may leak out but only a little but who cares right. i make sure to turn on all sides except i'm not a back sleeper, so as to coat all sides fully during the night.
4. The liquid that comes out is like water, clear, non-smelling. The liner absorbs the liquid and by the morning time with your first pee of the day it's pretty much all out. You can remove the panty liner and go on about your day or replace it for a few hours if your want to feel safe.
My experience:
I will forever and always use this product. I get so annoyed and frustrated just thinking about how women are NEVER told about good bacteria and the need for it. The dr, nor gynecologist...etc. EVER discussed this with me. I had no clue to ask either. Good bacteria for our lady parts is SO IMPORTANT, infact .....required!!!! My struggle started when i was in my 20's with the dr telling me to wash better, REALLY!? how dumb is that ......obviously i'm coming to you for help because i already did that repeatedly!!! ....now what doc!? after many years of being annoyed and frustrated...... and giving up on every finding the solution.
Fast forward to today, i will be 50 yrs old in a few months (2018) (pretty proud of that), i am in menopause and started to use an oil with estrogen in it, i put this up and on my vagina to relieve symptoms associated with 'wonderful menopause'. Well with the application of the oil product for moisture and lubrication it did change the PH of my girly parts, as a result i developed a bacteria infection. To make a long story short......
FINALLY!!!!!!! ........with this product i now have a fresh, ph balanced, healthy vagina!!! It's awesome too, my husband will agree! I stumbled upon this product, like you, reading reviews because i needed help for a bacteria infection i developed. Before reading these reviews i went online to get info/research on the issue and was horrified and depressed to read about the desperate women who suffer from constant problems with our girly parts, for years, mind you. So i knew i had to BE SMART and find the SOLUTION because i wasn't willing to suffer from a bacteria infection again. (My husband also was so sensitive in helping me so he looked in medical books about bacteria infections...etc. He's so sweet! .......Not in 'manly feminine' way - it was more of a....... 'manly .....let me help YOU, help ME honey!' kind of way cuz it affected him too!) Laugh!
How I personally use this product:
while i was using monostat to get rid of my hot as FIRE, ITCHY, vah-jayjay symptoms! ...not kiddin' (i can laugh about it now but it wasn't funny then). I inserted one every night for a week. A reviewer posted some good tips on using it at night which i readily applied and will speak to below. Within that time ( a week) not only did the infection go away but the smell was gone. What!? noooooohhhh.......WHAT!!!!???? ....are you kidding me, ....wow! i was floored. and i mean the smell was gone for days after i stopped using the product. So with my main goal accomplished - which was to get rid of the bacteria in-balance, which cleared up the infection. I was ecstatic and empowered to perform some tests with the product. My 2nd goal was to test this out more thoroughly.
So!..... i knew that if i stopped using the product my vagina and all it's parts would quickly get out of balance and an over growth of some type of bacteria would return. That's just natural fact and i get that! But i wanted to know for how long could i go without taking the product before i started to smell again and have discharge. With the help of my husbands feedback in conjunction with my tests i found - that for me personally i can use the product, as indicated above, every 3 days and stay clean and fresh smelling. No discharge, a perfect functioning vagina. That is, one application for every 3 days (ofcourse i probably used it daily for 2 weeks straight prior to my tests) ....Not bad, i'll take that.
I am 'inlove' with this product, it is my secret weapon and i feel so empowered and confident knowing and..... FEELLING super clean when i get out of the shower, that i can go my entire day 24hrs and be fresh and clean, even for days after discontinued use. At almost 50yrs old i was finally able to have a moment with myself where i said, 'Now this is how my vagina is supposed to be!' Only a female can truly appreciate that. For the price of this product AND if you are having any difficulty with your plumbing downstairs i strongly suggest you just try this product and see how quickly your body just soaks it up, responds to it, and loves this product. It is a SHAME that i had to wait what.....30 some years before i could finally achieve a healthy, free of odor and discharge vagina. REALLY!? ...Now that's just sad,....... that women are not helped more by dr's and those in the medical field. To have no uncomfortable moments, with your husband, and to have confidence and to feel good about my body and vagina while with or without my man is priceless! i'm sorry..........i didn't emphasize that enough!.......PRICELESS! That would be a great commercial to play during super bowl! 'Pre-biotics for your Vah-jayjay! for that not so fresh feeling.' .....laugh..... i would seriously love to write the material for that baby.....would be a hoot! sorry back to the subject........
Now what have i tried over the years (since my 20's); to remove the odor even after washing, which did help some what but never as fully and completely as this product?
Here is my list:
Various supplements including super expensive probiotics by mouth (never helped even a tiny bit, infact! that can often alter my smell and not in a positive way)
apple cider vinegar (after washing pour in hand and rub it all over and let it dry, no rinsing no dilution)
Colloidal Sliver Spray (after washing spray all over vagina) this was more helpful than the above 2 listed items.
3% sulfur soap (before washing lather your girly parts up and let sit while in the shower washing other body parts, then finish with rinsing and washing vagina again with regular soap. And YES this burns, uuuummmmm .......yeah that's all i'll say about that one! LOL ) This was even better then the above but i liked to use in conjunction with the silver spray.
I used the last two items for YEARS because it helped me manage the issue; but i still suffered in silence and shear confusion until i did research on good bacteria and tried this product.
I am happy to say i do NOT NEED any of those items any longer. I just ordered another box today as i will be using my last one tonight. i am not able to find them in stores but i am happy to order online. I will use good bacteria on and in my girly parts until the day i die people!!! I'm not kidding, this is serious business for a woman.
The beauty of this is it's SO SIMPLE, it makes sense, it works very effectively! Be patient and watch the changes over the course of a week. I'm not a dr, nor am i telling anyone what to do, this is my experience, this is fact, of which i can absolutely speak too because i am a WOMAN, and two i have suffered with and tried to manage..... for years..... female issues, and I know what it feels like to endure infections. I am happy to also say that i feel very confident that i will not be getting any type of infection again, as it relates to my bacteria being out of whack. I am finally, after 49 years, at peace with my vagina!!! LOL, ....now i just have to keep managing my menopause symptoms Which is a whole 'nother story!!! (which i do quite nicely after research and trial and error) ....i need to live a long and happy, healthy life as i turn 60, 70, 80 and beyond.
Thanks for spending time with me, i enjoyed it! ....AND if you are anything like me ......when you can't sleep because of any of these issues and was up at 2 in the morning, in bed, reading amazon reviews, in the dark....... with the dim light on your cell phone......with my readers on.....LOL....... then i hope i was of some help!! I am happy to answer questions about the product and my use of it but am not a dr so if you want medical advice call your dr please. :D
Be patient but never give up, there are answers out there, there is hope, we as women do NOT have to suffer or put up with a problem for years on end. it's not fair, it's not right, so never give up in finding 'your' answers, that are right for 'your' body!!!! You are worth it and you deserve it!!! Peace and Love! xox
UPDATE: 5/2/2019
Still goin' strong! don't have to use as frequently throughout the week. Infact i haven't used this for a couple months now. Seems like the longer you use this product the more good it does in keeping you ph balanced. Still lovin' this product, a must for female health!! And keep this product on hand always.
I learned some important information that my doctor seemed to be completely oblivious about, and by educating myself, I was able to solve my issue long-term WITHOUT antibiotics! Here is what I learned in a nutshell:
1) The vagina (like the gut) has a specific balance of bacteria that keeps everything functioning properly. If too much of the good bacteria get killed off (either through general antibiotic use OR they are starved (more on this later), then the bad bacteria and yeast will take over and over multiply, causing lots of problems like BV and yeast infections, etc...
2) The 'good' bacteria keep the bad bacteria in check by producing hydrogen peroxide. The bad bacteria are anaerobic, and can't survive in a high oxygen environment. So one of the first things I did was to give myself regular hydrogen peroxide douches. (you can dilute it with water if using it straight is irritating. I personally used it without water, but you may be more sensitive). These douches don't need to be complicated - Just insert a small amount of peroxide, try to keep your legs above your head for about 2-3 minutes, then let it out (preferably over the toilet or in the tub). Now that I don't have BV anymore, I still use hydrogen peroxide flushes once a month at the end of my period to flush out the last vestiges of blood (blood feeds the bad bacteria, which is why BV often gets worse during or immediately after a period). Such a small amount of prevention really makes a huge difference!
3) The good bacteria need food to live and multiply and thrive. Their food production is controlled by estrogen. So, if estrogen levels are too low (as are mine) you can either raise them by taking estrogen (which you may or may not want to do). Alternatively, you can step in and feed the good bacteria directly with this VH Essentials prebiotic. By providing food to the good bacteria in the form of these suppositories, you will ensure that the good bacteria have what they need to rebound and vanquish the pathogenic stuff.
When I first started treating my BV, I did daily hydrogen peroxide flushes and inserted one of these suppositories (it's shaped like a bullet and looks like a wax crayon - super easy to insert) just before bedtime. It's ideal to do it right before you plan to be laying down so that gravity doesn't eject it before it's had a chance to dissolve and get eaten.
2/22/2017 Update: After successfully eradicating my BV issue, I stopped using these prebiotic inserts as frequently (I dropped down to 1-2 per week). After a few weeks, I noticed some early signs that BV might be trying to resurface, so I immediately returned to taking these suppositories almost every night and within a couple of days I was back to normal. Since I likely have ongoing issues that will continually lead to BV overgrowth as a symptom (my hormone levels are way too low), until I can fix that issue, this is likely a symptom that I will just have to keep in check. I seem to need to use these almost every day. I'm still extremely happy with this product, and I would much rather rely on a prebiotic than resorting to multiple rounds of antibiotics.
2nd update 8/17/2017: I got a bit lazy and stopped using the VH prebiotics regularly so my BV returned full force. I decided to try something slightly different. I ordered these probiotics: Jarrow Formulas Jarro-Dophilus Women 10 Billion Cells Per Veggie Capsule, 30 Count . I took one orally and inserted one vaginally at night. The next day, the BV smell was almost completely gone! I decided that I will temporarily suspend the VH prebiotic and finish the Jarrow probiotic protocol. I may go back and forth between the two in the future, or take both of them simultaneously to make sure the probiotics really have a chance to colonize. I'm mentioning this in case anyone else is either not having good results with the VH prebiotic, or wants to beef up their regimen by taking both simultaneously. Just to be clear, I am still happy with the VH probiotics, but since I unfortunately have a systemic problem, rather than a temporary bacterial unbalance, I have to use the prebiotics on a daily basis to keep my system in check. I'm not certain that I will get more lasting results with the probiotic than with this prebiotic, and since the prebiotic is much cheaper than the probiotic, in the long term I will likely stick to the prebiotic suppositories. I'll update this review in the future if I discover anything new.
3rd update 12/6/2017: At the risk of jinxing myself, I wanted to share what I *think* is finally my solution to keeping BV at bay. What I've been doing lately (and which seems to be working) is to give myself a super quick "flush" or douche with some hydrogen peroxide almost every day and use one of these prebiotics every other night. I go into the shower and using a silicone bulb, I just insert about an ounce of peroxide, which then drips out almost immediately and I take a quick shower to rinse it off. I've found that it's especially important to do this flush immediately after sex, since even when using condoms, sex is known to exacerbate BV (they don't know why, but it does). I'm still tweaking the frequently of the prebiotics, but it seems that combining them with the daily (or almost daily) peroxide flushes are key.
*I have noticed that several reviews I have written on items purchased through Amazon have had the "Verified Purchase" removed incorrectly and as a result are no longer visible, which is likely happening to other people as well. When you read reviews, be sure to sort by 'All reviews' since there is obviously a bug in the system and many helpful and detailed reviews are now hidden.
