Quite frankly I'm sick of developers ham-fisting multiplayer in to games that don't stand to benefit from it just because it's the thing to do these days. Disgaea would certainly benefit from some core advancements but I don't see multiplayer as the answer at all. It would be nearly impossible to fairly match opponents which leaves me wondering what the point would be.

Level creation would be fun but it would also open up the opportunity to trivialize the endeavor of getting super powerful characters. People could just slap +100% experience panels all over the place and lock rangeless enemies on to islands to be picked away at for massive level gains.

I think it'd go a long way personally if they just updated the look of the game. I'm all about cameos done right but as far as I can tell we're getting the same units and monsters by a large margin which is my lingering disappointment with the series.

Go play online chess and let us Disgaea fans have our Disgaea. Not every game in the world needs to be multiplayer, if you want to play with strangers then get a WoW account.

If you were a fan, you wouldn't be bitching about the lack of a feature that has nothing to do with the game. Disgaea is built on a strong single player experience, it's not a multiplayer party game. And for the record, throwing a hissy fit because Disgaea 4 (fortunately) doesn't have multiplayer functionality doesn't qualify as "higher expectations" it's more like trying to make every game into the same cookie cutter crap. You'd make a great EA fan, their entire business model is based on producing interchangeable games.

@Jack Dashing

Um... Disgaea 4 does have multiplayer. Check out the latest trailer. You can do several things. 1) Steal friend's characters (tossing into base panel) and then disciplining them. 2) Fighting other people's teams. 3) my favorite: designing your OWN pirate ship

I'm sure there were other things, but its a long trailer and i'm not going to re-watch it right now.

Yep, Disgaea 4 has multiplayer like Kelly said and it sounds really awesome. I can't wait for D4, it's a huge improvement.
