About the Author
Since 1983 Joe and Teri Metts have been serving the body of Christ in the areas of pastor, christian education, missions, women’s ministry, and discipleship, in churches in Kentucky, Kansas, Mississippi, and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. In late summer of 2009, after more than eleven years on staff at a large church in Brandon, Mississippi, God challenged Joe to make some radical changes in his life, focusing his ministry efforts on small churches, primarily in the area of discipleship. In March 2010, Joe was called as pastor of a small church in south-central, Mississippi, allowing him the opportunity to experience firsthand the joys and challenges of shepherding a smaller congregation. Over the past twenty-five+ years Teri has written Sunday school literature as well as numerous Bible studies, including two twelve-week studies: Touching Jesus and Embracing Christ. as the primary curriculum for Hem Touchers Ministry, started in April 2000, these two studies have been used by God to help both men and women receive healing from past and present life hurts and begin the journey toward faithful, Christ-centered discipleship. More recently, Teri entered the field of fiction, and her debut Christian fiction novel, Caribbean Paradise, was published in 2010, followed by the second book in the Island Legacy Series, Pearl of the Caribbean, in 2011. Joe and Teri live in Mississippi with their two dogs, Buddy and Shug. They have three grown children (two married, one single), and four grandchildren. In 2006, Joe and Teri bought their dream home – a 100-year-old bungalow. Be sure and check out Teri’s Christian-based website at: www.bungalowretreat.com where she depicts country living, bungalow-style, in words and pictures.
