Finally, it's great to see this classic album available on CD once again. Tawatha was the hot, sultry female vocalist from the group "Mtume" ("Juicy Fruit", "You, Me & He", etc.). This is Tawatha's one and only solo project released in the summer of 1987, featuring the funky, sexually suggestive hit "Thigh Ride". Included here are both the radio version and the extended 12-inch version of the song, as well as an extended version of "Are You Serious".

Produced by James Mtume, "Welcome To My Dream" is consistent with the Mtume's signature sound, with a good mix of mid-tempo funk and sultry slow jams, which Tawatha delivers with perfection. "Did I Dream You" is my personal favorite song here, which I've been listening to frequently for over 20 years. (And I still remember watching the video on Video Soul every night.) I was lucky enough to see Tawatha perform tracks from this album live at a popular night club in NYC back in '87. The crowd was blown away! Tawatha later went on to perform back-up vocals for Luther Vandross (and others) after the group Mtume disbanded. Cop this one while you can; you won't be disappointed.

TAWATHA AGEE is surly one of the very best lady singers around today, she has worked with so many top music makers for decades as a backup vocalist, including LUTHER VANDROSS..and yet she is not very much known. She posess a crystal clear, sinewy, fluidy voice in remisence of ANGELLA WINBUSH.
I became enchanted by her spell by the hits: "JUCY FRUIT", "YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE" and "YOU,ME AND HE" by her association with JAMES MTUME and his band MTUME. The song that realy showcases her superior talent was "DID I DREAM YOU?"...smooth.. sensous..mood-setting in its essense !!.
THNX to MIGHTY AMAZON, I never knew she had a solo album. It's her only album !!. I had to get it !!.
It's in the same tradition as the other MTUME albums..pulsing, vigorous and at times smooth and creamy.
PULSING cuts are "THIGH RIDE" a favourite, "LOVE SHINE" I love it, "LOVE GOES HIGHER", "ARE YOU SERIOUS" a fantastic song and "MORE THAN BEFORE" realy gr8.
The ballards are as follows: "DID I DREAM YOU?" my absolute favourite song on this project. "WELCOME TO MY DREAM" is an ethereal interlude..it's like a dreamscape.
A tad uptempo, "THE WAITING'S OVER" is another mellow cut.
Concluding this supreme output is the sad yet strong "NO MORE TEARS".
We are in for two bonus tracks..the 12' version of "ARE YOU SERIOUS" and the dub mix of "THIGH RIDE". To all fans of good ol' 80's music..you are gifting yourself to get this album..highly recomended !!!. way to go TAWATHA !!!.

Loved this album years ago in the 80's, had it then on cassette. Was unable to replace on CD and had been looking for for it for years. Glad Amazon had it available again, brought back many memories from when my husband and I were first dating and got married. I used to listen to this song playing on the urban top 40 when I would drive back and forth to see him on the weekends. When the box came and I popped it into the CD player, it brought a big smile to my husbands face too!!!!!! Tawatha's voice welcomes you into her dream and takes you away. I wish this had not been her only solo album.
