I recently bought a used one from Gizmo's Outlet. It's said to be genuine. It plugged it and it says Microsoft on the settings for memory. Is there a way to test if its genuine? It has X Box engraved on the HDD.. so does that mean its genuine?

If it's genuine it should be backwards compatible with xbox original titles. Knockoffs don't have the files necessary to play them. Try playing an old xbox game and see what happens.

BUT make sure it is on xbox live's list of compatible games.
