All of the wiring diagrams you find online for "ELM327 modification" seemed to have been drawn by one person, who may or may not have an engineering background because their wiring diagram didn't make any sense. I had to read that person's text-based instructions to understand what was required.
The 2 center pins (looking at the switch pins 3 across, 2 down) are common. Meaning, these pins go to the ELM327 circuit board. The outer pins are the ones that get switched and should lead to the HS-CAN (6 and 14) or MS-CAN (3 and 11) pins on the OBD2 connector. It took me about 5-10 minutes to complete the modification, mainly because I didn't have a workbench set up. I had to pull everything out of my toolbox as I went along.
For the price of this set, it is still less expensive to buy a regular ELM327 and modify it versus buying the OBDLink MX adapter (which automatically switches to MS-CAN).
Overall: 5/5 stars
I knocked a star off for easy to install because the washer only goes on in a very specific position, took me a minute to pick up on it
Comes with good hardware and the switch still works as intended.
But I knew that when I bought them.
But, yueton: NOBODY'S MAKING PADDLE-BLADED ONES at this price... how 'bout jumping on a vacant niche?
