This modem works exceptionally well if you know what you are doing. Windows 7 and 8 typically recognize the driver but I go to the Zoom website to ensure that I have the latest one. We use these for alarm notification via analog phone lines. The only drawback (hence four stars) is that the voice feature is quiet. I have turned up all the settings within Windows and the volume on a call is still relatively low. If you are in an office it isn't a problem, but if you are out in the field with background noise, good luck hearing the voice.

If Zoom tweaked the internals to produce a better voice then the Zoom usb modem would be the best on the market (even compared to the expensive multitech).

Works on Macbook Pro running OS 10.9 Mavericks! There are no instructions in the packaging for OS 10.6, 10.7, 10.8, or 10.9, but if you follow the instructions for 10.5, they'll work just fine. Plugged it in, set it up in Network (inside System Preferences) and whallah - it dialed up to the internet no problemo! I strongly recommend this product for those out there running Macbook Air, Macbook Pro or any Mac without an internal modem.

If you are like me and live in an area that doesn't have Wi-Fi or any high speed intranet available this may be what you need. I bought a new Dell Computor and to my surprise found out most new PCs are not built with a Dial Up Modem and I was unable to get on-line, I bought the "Zoom External Modem" and it was exactly what I needed. It plugs in to a USB Port which took about 5 seconds, it took my PC about 5 min. to get it running and I was soon hooked up to the Net. One thing to remember if you have no high speed hook up available, this is only for dial up and the speed is slow due to the dial up, not the modem. It solved my problem and does the job.

I finally upgraded to Mac OSX Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard. Aside from a couple of niceties of M-Lion, Snow Leopard was just fine, but sooner or later it's time to move on. I had to replace a number of items: scanner, printer and some software to make the move up from 32 bit to 64 bit. I also had to replace the Apple USB Modem which I had been using for years as a Fax modem.

It always worked a little flukey, likely because I am faxing over a digital Vonage line. I also have an efax account, so whenever I had trouble with sending a fax via the modem, I would just use efax. I prefer to use the modem however because efax delivers faxes via email WHICH IS NOT SECURE. No one else seems to mind this, including mortgage brokers, banks, etc. who have "faxed" my private data back and forth to me via efax (email). But I do.

Anyway, I bought this Zoom modem to replace the Apple USB Modem and it seems to work just like the other. So far I haven't had any problems sending faxes, but I likely will because, again, I'm sending them across a digital line. But for what I want and need, this unit does the trick - and it arrived quickly and installed easily. I did have a question during installation and called Zoom and easily got a hold of a live rep who was easy to talk to and got me going quickly. That's hard to find these days.

this works well with my window 7. Doesn't work on my window 8, don't have time to play with it. Not sure of it works for win10. But so far I use the in house window07 fax software and fax a lot of. It take a bout 1 minutes per page of PDF for me. This changes depend on bandwidth and so on. Google for how the dial number lays out. It is weird. You have to type in the exact format number or else it won't work. When dial a fax number this is it format: +1 (951) 555-5993. if you put in 951-555-5993 it won't dial. Look at your configuration as well. Good luck on setting up but once it work it works well.

zoom 56K V.92/V.90 Modem (USB Mini External) Model 3095
After I had many internet drop outs from my External US Robotics Modem, Model U13-4292 PN USR 5637, for my lap top, I read a review about it and found out why this was happening. Apparently from this reviewer after the Robotics Modem gets too hot after a few hours of use it may become unstable and begin to intermittently drop your Internet connection. I then began a search for a better external modem and found the Zoom USB Mini External Modem Model 3095. It had no reviews, good or bad at the time so I thought I would try it out. Am I ever glad I made that decision. This Zoom Modem has performed flawlessly ever since I got it on 10-1-11. Not one drop out ever, not even after 8 hours of continuous use. Another thing that I am pleased with is that I can hear it dialing and making a connection through my speakers and hear the handshaking sounds that I could not hear with my US Robotics. I am well pleased with its performance and would recommend it as a good buy.

This product best interfaces with my TTY 3.0 software. Is easy to install (follow the instructions). The price is fare and reasonable. Anyone still needing a voice supported modem will find this more than satisfactory. Good surfing.

I've ordered a few of these over the last 4 years. It's not the manufactures fault. I'm on my computer(dialup) A LOT. And with a laptop I'm constantly moving around. So the wires have pulled loose every time.

Ps. i've tried this and the generic model, no noticeable difference between the two.

That being said, it worked perfectly. But if you have a laptop with blue-tooth capability i recommend you research Bluetooth modems BEST INVESTMENT EVER :P
